Heya folks

Around this time of year I head to Moonta bay caravan park for a nice drive, some fishing, bbq and general relaxation...

Was wondering if any of u guys would like to join me? I haven't got a specific date or time in mind, nothing concrete, but I reckon if we have a few folks go down for the weekend we can have a bit of fun. Boozing, Poker, fun with the ocean and the ubiquitous bbq roasting of meats....

I'd aim for a long weekend... but would probably call it on the sunday, so we can drive home before the blitz, as well as getting monday to recover at home...

Anything goes really

So what say ye?

-D

*EDIT

Can get yourselves Tents with or without power and cabins, or you can take your own campervan/trailer tent/caravan.... the rates are pretty good, seen here at http://www.adelaidecaravanpark.com.au/mta-tariffs.asp

Its not for everyone I'll have to admit, but the 2 hr drive there and back is quite cruisy, and given the right time, u can bag a load of crabs or fish or squid... or just go swimming :)

Yep yep, and then there is that nice nice carpark near the jetty, with that cafe that makes the most pimp pizzas in the region...

I usually take an esky full of beverages, an esky full of foods/bbq meat and one to put the fishing catch into :)

Car fridges come in very handy at that place.. I just wish they had a bonfire. Theres nothing better than having a communal bonfire with marshmallows, sausages, baked taters and all the rest that goes with it *wink*

hey i live in kadina, 7 min drive from moonta, i shld see yas down there n introduce myself if yas end up goin, let ya know some of the locals, chicks included.

thanks  that'd be cool... im hoping to do it in 2-3 weekends time depending on my work schedule, but i'll definately let u know when i down... pm me yr details mate :/

-D

well id be interested thats if its not a boys only thing being organised cause there is a few chicks on here that would want to come

Yeah everyones welcome. Pretty much just rock up and do your own thing :D As long as people take care of their own accomodation/groups then it should be an easy thing to do. I got a mate coming with me in the GTR and we'll get a cabin to share, tho the tent spots are quite nice too (on the beachfront) so really all depends on how much you want to rough it... and if we wanna take some photos, the carpark near the jetty is a good place for us to show our wares

-D

Edit ; And while I say 'do yer own thing' I'd definately have a couple communal things planned like a sunday bbq (good facilities there) and possibly pizza at the bayside cafe, in addition to hanging out on the jetty and having a few drinks while happily depleting the blue crab/squid/whiting population

sounds like fun!

so long as its not the april anzac day long weekend id be up for it. also got a surfing trip on some time soon down the midcoast so hopefully it wont collide with that either.

Yeah I'm not thinking that far ahead, I had Adelaide Cup weekend in mind, or Easter weekend.... try to hold it while the seasons are still nice...

Adelaide Cup is a fortnight from now, so its short notice but its my preferred time to do this. Would u guys need more notice? I personally wont stay the sunday night, but friday and sat.... I use monday to recover hehe (and theres also a meet on cup day iirc about the new track iirc)

-D

Adelaide cup weekend is SAU dyno day weekend 8th of march with the Adelaide motor Complex march on monday 10th

Ok I'll scratch that then, what about the easter weekend? 3 public holidays during that time, so provided nobody has any religious obligations, should be able to do? (its in 4 weeks time)

-D

EDIT Was also planning a BBQ on the Sunday arvo, so would be great to have people who only wanted to make it a day trip to come along aswell...

EDIT2: If you're coming up during the night time, the only other thing worth mentioning is there arent any after hours places to get food, so you'll have to bring some along with you until you either catch some fish or go shopping at the local supermarket ;P Last time I went up there, we hit the jetty, got rather drunk and couldnt find any place to get food after 10pm... so we were in a poor state the next morning when we had bacon and eggs at the local deli ...

the only thing open after 10 is in kadina and thats bp, i also think on a saturday nite subway in kadina's open until 11, but then again, its still a 10 min drive to kadina. When your round the place, and wana say go for a drive to kadina, dont use the kadina-moonta road as it has roadworks, go to kadina via wallaroo.

    • Hi There I went through a rabbit hole of reading about Xenon headlights and the ADR regulations for having them installed. As people have been defected by running factory xenon I was researching in ways to make them compliant. Everyone always say needs to be self leveling and have washer installed, which I don't necessarily agree with. For this argument I'm using R34 as reference as I'm more aware on the construction of the headlight compared to the R33 Xenon, which may still be the exact same case.   For the self leveling clause taken from ADR 13 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles As you can see the bold text "these manually adjustable devices from driver seats" are fine to use. As Series 1 Xenon model headlights do have a 4 level adjuster on the right near the ignition (however not series 2) then these model are consider compliant in that argument.   For the Self Cleaning aspect of this argument clause taken from ADR 13 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles Now i can understand the argument that Xenon will need a washer as they are over 2000 lumens, but I clicked on the 12 at the end of that sentence and it takes me to the end notes which states R34 for headlight lenses are plastic, not sure if PL is mark as I don't currently have my skyline to confirm that marking is there. But could you not technically get a lenses with the PL marking on it and then get away with the argument that you need a washer. I went through a quick read of the adr and might have missed something else that may cause them to be non-complaint.    But wouldn't these technically be complaint headlights   Would love to hear other people input on this and shed some light   Edit In regard to the the washer portion I might be mistaken ADR 45 (which I believe is Regulation NO.45) states 12 cd (candela) I dont understand that portion in regarding to calculating the candela if anyone can shed some light. Otherwise I guess throw in a washer for the headlight and you definitely comply.

    • Hey Nismo, any chance in the world you still have these seats?
    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.
