R32 Gtr Or R34 Gt-t

hey guys (and girls), im looking at buying a skyline but not sure if i want a r32gtr or r34 gtt(manual, turbo, coupe), i know the gtr will have more power but they are pretty old now and im thinking r34 would be more reliable and just newer, iv got bout 25 to 30 grand to spend, any suggestions.

I was in the same predicament a few months ago... I bought a nice 34Gtt and wouldnt think about changing it now!!!

Depends what you want to do with it :dry:

The 34 hasnt missed a beat yet!

i think what he meant if that u would get a gtr u'll be tempted into the tracks and that would set u back heaps. but then again 30k is a decent budget for a well tunned 32.

daily drive go for the 34 mate, simply less to fix up, newer more reliable etc. both cars would satisfy u on the weekend track days.

This has been covered so many times:

Buy a GTR for 20k, drive it for a few months, then put wheels on it and maybe exhaust, the motor then breaks and you've got to rebuild an RB26, then here comes a nice fat bill which will blow your 30k budget right out of the water

Totally agree mate. But we can't EXPECT his motor to die. It's safer to assume it needs a rebuild, especially seeing as a new owner will be excitedly thrashing about, but the turbos will be on their last legs for sure.

If you want comfy, cleaner and hassle free daily driving get the GTT (i would). But if you are serious on performance and don't mind refurbishing the GTR (which would make it nicer to own anyway), even rebuilding the motor just to be safe, then fork out $20k and set aside another $10k for renovation on the GTR.

Both choices have their merits. You decide.

lol @ 180sx guy .... u see the R34 being smooth to drive??? compared to ur 180sx and the GTR coz its the same age?

I had a 180sx.. its a piece of shit compared to the GTR. it drives nothing alike.

Dont get me wrong.. i loved my 180sx to bits, but it doesnt have anything on the GTR in any aspect.

As for the GT-T, great car, great engine, great chassis, looks great, goes good enough for every day, is lower km's on motor, has less km's on chassis, has newer interior, But its not a GTR. Its just a GT-T.

If u wanna scare urself stupid when u thrash a car.. GTR is the way, if u want a more refine but ultimately much slower car, then the GT-T is the go... Just be aware that both cars run ceramic turbos. and although ppl love sayin gtr turbos r older blah blah blah, what makes u think the GT-T has had an easier life than the GTR??? what makes u think that a GTR is still running the same turbo it had when it left the factory???

Its not whether or not you can purchase the 32. Its whether or not you can mantain the 32. Most people i know that buy 32's cheap end up going broke maintaing it.

I would go with the 34 as its newer,

      Yeah they sure are available for import now, its great news Matt, You need an import specialist insurer, nothing has really changed over the years about the mainstream insurance companies not touching them. I have my cars with Lumley (same group as NRMA etc) because they insure imports and have a good concept of "stable use" where as long as no more than 2 cars are being driven each day you can have them all on a good rate, I've also had no issues with claims through them. Note they won't insure a car if you take it to the track, even for an off track claim. Shannons are another option but I had a lot of trouble with their claims (they were happy to take the premiums, not so keen to pay out), and I'm sure there are other import specialists too

      I'm a lifelong home drummer, was in a couple of bands as a teenager/early 20's then moved to Japan and didn't play at all until 2019 when my missus and I were invited to check out the band room upstairs at a restaurant cafe here in JP. They had a full acoustic drum kit and they let me have a bash for about 20 mins. I went away from there wondering how I could not play for 19 years.... Missus bought me a e-drum kit a few weeks later (Yamaha DTX402) which is basic but lets me play at home in my tiny Japanese house.  Also have an Epiphone Les Paul and little Vox amp and delay pedal I bought for the missus because she wanted to learn to play the guitar, but she never got into it. That was about 8 years ago. I taught myself to play some 80's U2 song riffs like the Fly solo, etc and some other things but being a drummer I don't really have the dexterity in the fingers lol. Ham fisted if you will. So I kind of just mess around with the guitar rather than try to seriously play complete songs. My son on the other hand inherited all my side of the family's musical talent and is a brilliant classical pianist at 16 years old. He'll go on to do something in the music industry here for sure once he finished his schooling. I got him a Yamaha NU1XA hybrid piano earlier this year.

      You mean a rich spike, as the air has been metered multiple times due to the turbulent air, you end up injecting more fuel causing a momentary dip in torque and quite possibly a stall event. TL;DR, install a Haltech Elite or S3 or R3, convert to DBW, throw all ancient shit into the bin and enjoy the car.
