Be interesting to see if this makes a difference, but it's worth a try!

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN
AUSTRALIA DID
NOT

PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY - ALL AT THE SAME TIME,

THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A

NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE

BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22nd
HAS BEEN FORMALLY

DECLARED
'STICK IT UP THEIR ARSE DAY'
AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION

SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS

CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS eMAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU

CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING FOR THE GOVERNMENT & ACCC TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES ?

IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTIONS AND

CONTROL IN PRICES THE OPEC NATIONS PROMISED LONG AGO ?

WE PRODUCE OUR OWN OIL BUT PAY WORLD PARITY PRICES AND

THE PRICES JUST KEEP GOING UP AND WE NEED TO STOP IT.

PETROL PRICES ARE CAUSING OTHER EFFECTS;

AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES,

AS ARE TRUCKING COMPANIES .

THIS INCREASES PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED.

THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES etc.

WHO PAYS IN THE END ?

WE DO !

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

AND IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,

WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD.

FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE FEBRUARY 22nd THE DAY CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA SAY 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'

This little memo has been circulating my work up here in North Sydney, and it has been around alot of other places aswell, so i thoughought i might aswell forward it to ouir good ol' forum.

IT WON'T WORK!!!!

ok so you don't buy fuel on friday. so you wait till saturday, or do it tonight. either way the fuel companies will still get their money. they will have a slow friday but today and saturday will be busier and make up for it. we have been discussing this in wasteland for weeks and on other forums, and we all agree that it won't work.

That might've been because perhaps only 1.9% of the population actually complied with this idea.... Bit different even if a quarter of Aussies didn't buy fuel on a particular day, it would temporarily bugger the logistics of the major fuel companies...

Ah, but if they caught on, they could up the price on Saturday, knowing that people are going to HAVE to buy petrol then coz they didn't the day before!

This is exactly what i thought aswell, but the thing is that if we could forecast a day in which they would need to rely on fuel sales, and then attack that day it would make a whole lot of sense.

But i dunno, i might aswell try it this friday and see what happens.

and then they would make MORE money. and instead of make, say 5c a litre they could put it up and make 10c a litre. and more people would be buying it cause they hadn't bought any the day before. so the unrealistic loss of 4.6 billion dollars could turn into a gain of 10 billion.

the only positive i can see from this junk email is that there will be people who don't have the mental capacity to add 1 + 1 won't be buying fuel so there will be smaller waiting times at the servos.

and if these emails are so common, don't you think the fuel companies would know about them? so they could be pricks and lower the cost of fuel on the day just to piss people off.

I never buy petrol on a Friday anyway... so it really doesn't make too much difference to me! Tuesday FTW!

yes, lets organise a day then smear it all over the internet that we won't buy fuel that day. i'm sure none of the fuel companies or their staff ever use the internet.

a better idea would be a whole week where you don't drive your car to work. that way you wouldn't be buying fuel, and also not using it, so the fuel companies actually would lose money. cause while you have a day that you aren't buying fuel, you are still using it as you drive to work.

seen this on so many forums and received so many emails, be smart if you don't purchase petrol on one day you're going to have to get it within a weeks time. Because of all the hassle everyone has caused if you are sucessful they are going to put prices up and you are going to make them x2 more then they would have made on the day you didn't put petrol.

Hmm yeah well i guess so, oh well might as well give it a try.

And Samon im sooo with you haha, Tuesday and Wednesday !!

Thurs, Fri and Saturday are killers!

MR_XTC

And relax, i wasnt the one who made this plan. Im just passing it on. Atleast we might get some sort of lay down onthe prices on friday due to supply being high and demand being low.

Will not work. Funnily enough oil companies have people they employ who are good with money. these people are able to make sure the company will not go under if people dont buy their product for 1 day. I dont know how they do it.

Some say they have 3000 monkeys working around the clock

others say they have people from the future who know more that we can possible comprehend right now.

I dont wanna mess with these forces. You shouldnt either.

Did we really land on pluto? think about it.

    • Note when Duncan says that, he means "when you're not using the correct lifting points on the sills, because you want to work on the sills. A 2 post hoist is not appropriate for everything anyway, and working on the sills is a good example of that, because the arms go under ths sills anyway. You're better off finding another way to support the car off the ground. Beyond that everything else D said is correct. Only the dedicated jacking points are the correct place to lift. Anywhere else is incorrect, extra caution and awareness must be used, etc etc.
    • Your off site links didn't work for me, and in any case it is easier for forum members if you post the pic directly either as an attachment or a link so the information is all in one place. That aside, the sills are the correct place to lift the car, whether with the factory jack or a hoist. Yes you should use rubber blocks with a slit for the seam on a hoist to avoid bending the pinch weld (where yours is currently bent, just bend it back if possible eg vicegrips), and be aware of the height you need in the blocks to clear any sill extensions to the hoist arms as it lifts If what you are doing needs access to the sills, the rear subframe bush would also be strong and secure. I'm not sure what you mean by sidemember (maybe same part I mean by sills) but be careful that your front support point is not too far back as the car is very front heavy and could overbalance.
    • Here's my first iteration - white duct tape so color is off, but this is just a straight line across the bonnet lip. From a geometry standpoint, this is probably closest to what a GTR has. Next up is some $5 white pearl vinyl and some rubber door sill trim, applied to the BACK of the bonnet lip. It's more accurate placement to the GTR, but also follows the body lines on this setup a bit more. Couple more pics on this config incoming: Again, a $5 vinyl and rubber job, it's  POC still and not how I'm gonna run this part. But one thing I'll note is that the black trim does need to "straighten out" a bit, and instead of going completely along the line of the bonnet lip, might be better suited to wrap over the "horns" of the bonnet lip, giving it a less aggressive curve up at the ends.  The correct way to do this would be to paint it body-matched and then decide how you want to make the black line. If you used paint or a pinstripe, you could have the black line go straight to the corner of the headlight where the rubber strip typically meets the headlight on a GTR.   Hope this helps!
