Mine is beginning to slip at high revs: no idea what to replace it with yet: it is a standard r32 clutch, asik, but I wouldn't mind something a little more bitey: it's just that I'd rather slip the clutch than explode the diffs/driveshafts.....

Well the clutch for the R32 is probably not meant to shift the weight of a stagea off the line in anger haha...

Simon - whats not to like? If the GTiR is a baby godzilla, then the stagea 260RS is teh momma.

Haha. You have a point

I have heard good things about jim berry clutch wich I think is just the std rebuit, I looked into twins, but they are $$$$, also the clutch is different from R32 GTR, its a pull type I think so make sure you get the right one. depends on how much power you running and also I have heard that twins can be LOUD

The car is just a weekender anyway, so the noise isn't a real issue: I just don't want to go breaking bits every time I drive it in angry mode... I have some more research to do...

i just installed a os giken quad plate in mine, it seems soft as pedal feel but havent drivin it yet, will do in next few days, should hold up any power i put through it now. I had a direct clutch twin plate, never ever slipped even on 600rwhp+ but its rattly and heavy pedal feel so i took it out. It was a great clutch to drive though as taking off was sooo smooth and easy unlike alot of other clutches.

I have an os twin plate suit rebuild will let you have it cheap cost $400-450 to rebuild, great clutch but I went to a new nismo twin for bit more bite. pm me if your interested.

so how much power does the 260RS put down in stock trim? and how much is the clutch good for? Im only doing basic mods that wont see incredible power gains...

Just out of interest, has anyone had geabox problems in a RS260? Considering there's an extra 200kg over the GTR. Does anyone know if the gearbox is the same as a series III R33? Apparently, that gearbox is tougher than its predecessors.

what changes are made to the RB26DETT over the years from 1996 til 2001 when they were run in 260RS? Was the engine and drivetrain changed to keep up with the change from R33 to R34? Or are SI and SII Autechs the same from front to back?

Im assuming they didnt change, as all stageas run the R33 GTR computer, and didnt change to R34 in 1998/99 or whenever the R34 skyline was born?

What sort of clutch should be run for a stagea with the mods im planning? Same as youd run in a GTR with similar mods, but a bit heavier to cope with the weightier car?

PFC for sale in the parts section. What you think? $850 ono, 2nd hand, with controller, works fine etc. Worth making an offer for? how often do these come up?

    • You see R34 GTRs listed for 200-300k are they really selling for these prices? Kinda seems like the same ones listed all the time. Even with R33 GTSTs looking at gumtree. You have an auto with a bitsa interior for 35k. Another one needs an engine rebuild and asking 24k. And then you have a stock in better than average condition for 45k. Nobody is ever going to pay these prices.
    • Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers. You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆
    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
    • Can try Maxima. Or random Infiniti models from the same era. Good luck with your hunt, let us know what you find!
