a V8 wouldnt bad at all...high tech high revving engine, but id like it to stay a six. As long as the new GTR exceeds its predesors (spelling) then we all should be happy.

But if there was a V8 option, and it was sold here...wouldnt it be sweet to own bathurst again..?

From the specs, it looks like the engine is going to be gruntier in the mid section, and rev a bit less, but be totally barnstorming overall !!

think about this for a second, a Road version of a JGt car !!

those things are limited to about 500ps in the championship

:O

Th whole story behind the Direct Injection is that the VQ32DETT has to meet the Euro4/5 emissions laws in 2005. The absolute tech involved in this engine is unsurpassed by any other.

The motors connected to the turbo housings have a valve along side to regulate the exhaust gas coming out of the engine, so that the engine management can spool-up the turbo with only a fraction of the gas-flow that is required with traditional "passive" turbos!

So what we have is an "active" turbo!

Can you imagine... Nismo bringing out an extra "piggy-back" device to spool-up the turbos at idle?

Also,

The new Attessa 4WD system has a active diff that regulates the drive to front and rear wheels according to throttle position...

...and an new dry sump thats a virtual copy of the JGTC car...

:burnout:

WHAT!!!!! 480 HP!!!!! if it's in the production, it can't be produced in Japan for sure because of gentlemen's agreement.

BTW.....waitin' for pix. Is it the same pix as I saw in a magazine?!?!?! it's a computer-generated pix that use V35 coupe as base...........

what would be the rev limiter? the peak power is at 7200rpm ,wouldn't this mean it could rev a lil more, say till 8500rpm, maybe even 9000rpm? cuz the GT-R's now have peak at 6800rpm(?) , and rev till 8500rpm(?) ..... figures just the top of my head btw, correct me if i'm wrong

OK.

It's definately a Skyline. I don't know what a V35 is, here the 2-door Skyline is called the 350GT. And the GT-R is most definately using it's bodyshell (of course).

Don't worry, the 4 round tail lights are there! Do you really think after 30-odd years they're just gonna THROW AWAY the 'ol stove tops?

The famous Japanese 280ps limit? Well, for quite a few years now, the top-line sportscars from Japan have been sold "claiming to have" 280ps, but in reality, it's well over this (R34 GT-R for example). Remember, it's just an unwritten agreement, and manufacturers aswell as governing bodies etc are more than willing to turn a blind eye to the new GT-R's output, if it means it'll knock the Porsche 911 Turbo off it's pedestal...

...thats my interpretation. But when I asked my friend Kazuya (he works at Honda) about it, he said "Nobody cares about the 280ps"... so it's a gentlemans agreement, if you adhere to it, good on you, old boy.

But just watch all the new top-line sports cars from other makers come out with well over 300ps in '04 and '05.

Subaru and Mitsubishi have already broken this agreement, the wrx sti spec c is actually marketed as having 220+kw and the EVO likewise. The "gentlemens agreement" does not exist anymore.

It's interesting to read this topic. Has anyone seen the wheels magazine with the red RX-8 Mazda on the front? New GT-R pic is in there. Except it's not from MagazineX like they claim. It's from Nissan Design. One of the guys there is a heavy-hitter in Jap auto industry.

Speed magazine has a big article on the R35 Nissan GT-R, and yes Australia IS getting the car, not sure whether it will be in American spec (5.4L 305kW 540Nm NA V8 with optional Auto) or Jap/Euro spec (VQ35DETT of claimed 206kW, more likely 220-260kW).

And Speed also has a scoop on the wildest & fastest production car to come out of Japan EVER. It's not a Nissan, Toyota or Suzuki. You'll have to buy issue 8 of Speed to find out...:uh-huh:

Why has there NEVER been a mention of a V8 in a Skyline of any sort, let alone the GT-R, in Japan, in the lead up to this Octobers Tokyo Motor Show, when they'll be releasing the final prototype of the GT-R?

Engineering a V6 chassis to accept a V8 solely for a niche sector of a single market? Re-engineering the suspension, body rigidity etc for a heavier V8 aswell as the V6? They'll have to call the V8 another name then, won't they? They'll behave like two different cars...

I'm not saying Nissan have never considered a V8 for use in a GT-R, I just know that that theory has been put to rest, and the new GT-R IS a VQ Thirty-Two DETT... based on the JGTC VQ30DETT, that meets Euro 4/5 emmisions laws.

Whatever. Remember, America buys more cars than anyone else and it's the world's largest car-buying market. And Japan isn't getting the bent-eight or auto option. It's going to be a world car and Carlos Goshn has said it will be Nissan's "Halo vehicle".

Are you sure an NA V8 will weigh more than a TT V6? Turbos can weigh quite a bit. If you don't belive me, that's ok. We will see IF the car's released in October.

Their releasing the final "prototype" at the show, it's not the official launch... as far as I know, they haven't decided that yet.

Oh, and I do believe you that the US is the largest market.

The car will be displayed as the final, production-ready car. That was announced by Nissan International in May. Remember that this is Nissan's primo vehicle, to be sold in every western market there is. Goshn said it will be in every country Mitsu sells Evos and Subi sells STis. Out here, Leon Daphne wants the car bad, but it's unclear whether we will get the Yank V8 or Jap/Euro V6.

    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
