Geebuz - the lack of input into this thread means everyone on here must be a Holden fan!

I personally thought it was a very entertaining weekend of racing - especially race 2. Sandown is so dodgy in the wet especially turn 2 which if you ever drive there is such a nothing corner. But in the wet it just catches you out so often.

And 1.09's is DAMN quick especially given I don't think the track is at its best currently and the weather sure wasn't condusive to fast times I didnt think. It will be interesting to see if any of the other long standing records fall this year. Bathurst maybe??

Also the championship is panning out to be an interesting one. Really looks like its down to 4 drivers now and they are all from different teams with 2 Fords and 2 Holdens. Can't ask for better parity than that really.

what is wrong with skaifey these days? he just seems to be all over the shop. I would hate to see him stop driving, but I would like to have him on as a commentator. so it wouldn't be a total loss if he quit driving at took a job at channel 7.

poor skaifey.

yeah true. it certainly makes for lots of happy people, because everyone I know loves to hate skaifey. I love the bloke. I think it's because he was the shit when I was a teenager, he was winning races in formula cars, and touring cars (31s and then 32s) and then when he got going at HRT he was just about untouchable for 5 years or so, more even. and I always admired his professional approach to racing and his work ethic. back in the 80s and 90s probably half the drivers in top level aussie motorsport would hop out of the car and proceed to crack a tinnie, suck down a meat pie and top if off with a couple of smokes, where as skaife was always 100% professional, focussed on racing (they are all like that these days though). and he knew how to give TV and sponsors value for money.

The weather and off line damp line would not have been helping racing. Sandown has plenty of passing opportunities. I remember old Thomas Mezera used to pull moves at any corner he was close enough

Sandown does spread out the field though, and you end up with pockets of racing more so then at other tracks

I taped it and I'm watching it at the moment. Sandown sure is a hard place to drive in the wet. I've done a training day there in the wet and it was unbelievably slippery.

I don't like skaify only because he is so good, even though his latest form isn't showing it. I started following V8's when he was winning everything about 2002ish. I like backing the underdog, back then it was Ford.

sif you go for the 31's - RS500's All the way :)

these V8 races seem to be getting more boring - i have a feeling it more to do with the telecast as the racing was interesting the other weekend but i was struggling to watch the whole broadcast. I think they need to let them know that it isn't an actual race line between 2 and 3

most exciting part was seeing dave win the in Carrera Cup, been a long time coming.

sif you go for the 31's - RS500's All the way

RS500's,,,not on your life mate. Thats the Ford that screwed the system. Unreliable pieces of crap,,,quick someone hand me another head gasket. The Great Nissan GTR just finishing it off.

Lucky for us all,,,what has it been 4 weeks?. Hidden Valley is this weekend,,,I almost had forgotten V8's were still running. Screw cost containment I think there should be at least 4 or more rounds a year. If Cockren is gonna waste good money on V8's,,,then give us bloody more racing you baldy headed bastard.

Neil.

Of course not Neil, recorded the whole thing!

Interesting news from Ford, I think it will give some new life to V8SC because they will be forced to change the category now. Can't believe that FPR got the deal over 888 although I think they have a big enough name to draw in new sponsors anyhow.

I also think Ford should have dropped DJR a number of years ago (who cares if Dick has been with Ford for 35yrs, he hasnt got any results in the last 5yrs).

Tander did well to hold off the 888 cars, bad luck for McConville and Skaife (again).

mumph another boring race at another boring track if you ask me. the f1s are actually putting on better races than the taxis at the moment.

and wtf is with cochrane doing his best to destroy motorsport in Aus. This is his idea of a track to replace oran park

Dick needs to get rid of his son as a driver, steven just isn't good enough, no where near the talent or pashion of his old man.
