Hrmm so Skaife hasnt actually announced his retirement, but is expected to next week.

I wonder how much the Bathurst result has impacted on his decision, maybe a podium would have kept him in the sport another season.

He isnt that old. I mean if he gets his head straight and is interested then he can still do the job. His pace is ok, he just go walks about so seems a concentration thing. Surely can keep concentration under control for sprint rounds or has he just foung Tander simply too quick for him?

Well its hugely sad to see him retire. But it sounds like he knows its more to do with his lack of motivation then ability. A terrible shame. He was the first of the "my generation" of drivers who i absolutely loved watching race.

Some of the best racign was him in the POS Sega VR Commodore when Gibson lost Winfield money. Car wasnt there and he showed his class by man handling that car about the track....all class and a driver i really rate. So, no Seton, no Skaife....looks like i will have to support Murphy. Hell i am liking Ingall now he is with Morris....but yeh....scratching around for a driver to barrack for. Perhaps Max Wilson did enough at Bathurst to get him a look in.....i will get behind him if he scores a seat. Here is hoping that BJR realise the stupidity in putting nephew in the car when there is a guy like Wilson to be had :P

yep it was a sad day when sakifey announced it. at least he showed the haters he is human after all and had a few tears. his whole life has been motorsport and a good portion of it touring cars in one form or another so it must be hard to say goodbye. I'll certainly trek out to oran park to see him race one last time (if I'm in the country.).

good by skaifey. i'll miss you mate.

I feel the same way mate. I grew as a teen in the 90s watching him race and loved every minute. :P

The first racing i ever watched was Skaife in the GT-R, and iv'e followed him ever since. Very sad to see him go, hope he sticks around for the enduros, who knows him a seto could get a Bathurst crown yet.

Who do i have to blow to get that to happen :) I would be the happiest bloke in the country if they teamed up and gave it a good shake. Perhaps if Skaife keeps him bum in the seat from time to time he can have the motivation required for the big two races a year. I dont think pace is a problem, but what he has said about his head being elsewhere makes sense with how he goes walk about in the races

yep, you picked it mate. he has definitely lost some of that focus and his race results have suffered for it. but I really don't think he lacks the pace. he can still turn it on when needed.

I would love to see seto and skaife pair up for bathurst. they both started out around the same time as 2 young guns in the late 80s/early 90s. and both had enough pace and professionalism to shake up the old crowd. it would be nice to see them team up for a win. :ermm:

poor old garth to the back of the grid...think frosty may get himself a drivethru for that though. whincup out in front again those 888 cars are going good at the right end of the season

That was a crazy race, more like it please.

The biff at the front in the first 2 laps for those drivers was incredible. Skaife once again caught up in other peoples crap (summary of his past 2 seasons which has ultimately resulted in him quitting). Winterbottom having too much of a go, Larry finally having a go and the safety car not knowing when to go.
