I think he was handling it (not too well) but when Tom Walkinshaw brought Holden Motorsports changed all the account system changed and the price went up...Tom owns half of Skaife Sports

I wouldn't be surpised that Tom Walkinshaw wants HRT again and try to be sneaky about by stabbing someone in the back

What I want to know is....how did Walkinshaw have the money to buy Holden Motorsport - I thought the Arrows F1 team sent him bankrupt

It does seem that Walkinshonk stands to pick up HRT at a VERY cheap price if this plays out the way some pundits are tipping, and Skaife goes the *give him all the assets* route. Funny how the assets include an HRT licence that the Shonky bloke would have never had a chance at given past performance.

Convienient, lucky or planned???

Anyway, this sad situation once again goes to prove you can be a great sportsperson, and believe the best in people, but that defintely doesn't give you the business smarts.

wow- that crystal ball works

SMH.com.au: Skaife hands Holden team back to Walkinshaw to clear millions in debt

indeed, and raced well too:

2nd both time behind Stuber's "of course this is how quick toranas used to be, nothing dodgy here" torana.

Rod has a 6th and DNF (hope its OK) in the R31

And a bluebird and the Exa were racing as well - would love to see the TV for this one.

As for the taxis - sat was a bit of a letdown really, Whincup should buy a lottery ticket. Everyone who had a chance to catch him knocks themselves out.

In particular I've got no idea how FPR thought frosty's car would fit in there, even behind Skaife, there was already another car on his bumper.

I got up early, got ready, thought i'd check online to see if any rain was coming only to discover predictions of 36c so I jumped back inbed instead. I didn't feel like paying $110 to stand in 36c heat all day.

Whincup certainly had it pretty easy in R1. I'm still not sure about Tanders false start, did he get pinned for flinching or for jumping the start because if it was for jumping the start whomever was behind him got a better start than he did without a penalty.

I can see why Skaife is finishing up his career, constantly getting mixed up in other peoples dramas. Apparently Frostys radio was broken and he didnt hear the call to leave after Skaife went past.

I just picked up some pf Race II. Poor Skaife, its killing me watching what he is going through. Good work by Seto...lol, look at those lap times. You wonder how quick Seto could go if given a set of tyres and a green light to have a real go

LOL.....Dodgy Torana is an understatement ..... completely illegal is more like it. Rod's car popped an intercooler pipe.....was able to run the last race but the low comp motor has seen better days....he is about 60rwkw down in power to the High comp motor...not good!

I went out there yesterday. It was a really good day, and pretty sad too. any facility that can be enjoyed by over 30,000 people on one day needs to be kept. wakefield is miles away and is like a large go-kart track. eastern creek is a motorbike track and not exactly excitement city. oran park is great fun to drive, and great fun to watch. you can walk pretty much the whole way around the track and get right up close to the action. at some spots you are about 2 meters from the track and can still see multiple corners. and it's close-ish to sydney. i'm sure 8 years ago when they made this oran park town deal they thought we needed more housing as we were in the middle of a boom. but now the housing market is flat, no one has any money and the last thing we need is artificial suburb an hour out of sydney with no infrastructure there to support it. It's fkign bullshit. we need that race-track. the government should have stepped in and bought it. they could have sold most of the land surrounding it as farmland or industrial and used that money to fund the needed track and facility upgrades to make it a truly great facility.

Anyway, I rocked in and straight away bumped into skaifey. We had a little chat and he signed some stuff for me. he was a trooper. I saw him a few times throughout the day and every chance he got he was out of the garage talking and signing stuff for fans. and what really pissed me off is I didn't hear a single one of them say 'thanks' it was all "sign this, and take a picture that" not "thanks mark, much appreciated". no wonder people get the shits and don't bother coming out to sign stuff.

Anyway, his last race was a top effort. he made 14 places in 40 odd laps which is not easy at oran park. he really did put on the show he promised us. He's been such a great driver and in my eyes a great guy too. good bye skaifey, the sport will be worse off without you mate. as it will be without oran park. sad day all round.

Gees Baron I said thanks when you signed those 8x10 glossie photos for me....

Yeah sad to see the last of the GT-R drivers stopping full time driving. The only lingering thought was what may have been this year had it not been made a mess of by TW. Still the Kellys bailed on him as has Skaife. So I think I will start a rumour that MS is driving for Larry next year.

OP is a loss too. The place had character. Just not sure why channel 7 showed the historical package that consisted only of shots of Mike bloody Raymond. Twats.

Don't forget Paul Morris chucked it in too. A bloke that was never short of a dollar nor of an opinion.

yeah, bye bye to the Dude. funny, in the program they called him "the dirty, dangerous dude". i've never seen anyone call him that to his face! afaik it has always just been 'the dude' many would agree that he liked to ride a bit on the dirty and dangerous side though...

and yes, you did say thanks, you're one of the better of my fans.

like I said before, I'm sure all the bullshit with TW and loosing his grip on HRT has been a bit part of skaife's poor race finishes this year. it's a miracle he was able to get in the car at all with all that shit hanging over his head. no wonder he wasn't having any fun, and didn't have any focus.

uncle tom should really be called uncle cnt. he never does tire of fking people over does he. he's really screwed skaife over very nicely just like he's done many times before to folk in aus motorsport. I'm surprised he can even get a visa to come here with his form.

Yeh, i was watching the 1990 and 1991 races over the weekend. The sport feel the loss of guys like Skaife and Perkins. Skaife in 05 at 97, coming into the factory frey after the country's best touring car driver was left with an empty dance card come the failure of GMS and lack of money from Sega.

Skaife's incar footage is easily the most entertaining. Watching him wrestle the Sega Commodore around Sandown, the 05 Commodore around Bathurst for pole. I hope a season on the side line will seee him get the hunger and i hope that he comes back. LOL after all i still need him and Seto to win Bathurst

yes, skaife and seto together in 2010. call it mark skaife racing (like all the other heavy thinkers in motorsport do) and keep tommy well out of it. they can paint their commodores poo brown and sht on the rest of the field. then team up for bathurst and do us all proud!

oh, I forgot, I have a funny story about skaife.

a mate of mine who is a good few years older than me was watching a young mark skaife who had just appeared on the scene racing at oran park in the 80s (I think in a torana). he spun off into the infield just before the flip-flop and ended up right in the middle there. the marshall called for him to get out of the car and come to the safety of the marshalls barrier. mark just sat there, shook his head and wouldn't move. now the bloke is wildly waving, telling him to get his arse out of there. mark wouldn't budge. so the marshall runs over to find out what is so badly wrong that mark can't get out of the car. my mate then sees he marshall pick mark up and give him a piggy back over to the marshalls area. turns out mark had new race boots on and didn't want to get them muddy walking through the paddock!! haha. some skaife haters out there will point to that and say even as a young bloke he was a wanker, but I say fair enough. the poor bloke had probably shelled out some big dough on them and didn't want to fk them up. and at least he took care of his equipment. anyone that would rather be the laughing stock of the old codgers hanging around oran park than wreck his boots in my eye has his prioriies straight! ok, he's a wanker.

Actually talk of Morris on the one hand & TW on the other reminds me I forgot to make mention of Frank Gardner.

Cromley said in the broadcast that he is not well. It is sad that such a wonderful, piss funny bloke is largely missing from Australian motorsport these days. He was a huge part of the success BMW enjoyed in the 80's - helping the like of Jim Richards to ATCC championships. Not to mention the Sierras. Also helping some bloke called Paul Morris along too.

Australian motorsport needs more blokes like Frank Gardner & fewer of the likes of TW. Maybe everyone should don a terry towelling hat the next time they front on race day....
