Wondering if it is possible to change the nature of the stock rev limiter?

Now I don't know much (at all) about the coded internal working of the ecu BUT, I'm wondering if it's setup in a way that you could tell it to cut different channels, i.e. to cut the ignition channels instead of injectors..

so... basically a Bee*R limiter?

there is nothing wrong with the fuel cut.

The Ignition cut is more harsh on the engine and will cause premature turbo failure, and blown gaskets.

If you're gonig to say "Yeah but the injectors cut and can cause a lean condition" then you are absolutely wrong. The injectors cut after a full cycle, not halfway through.

Injectors are spot on. And when you cut an injector, the cylinder is completely empty, therefore no explosive charge, and no detonation \ lean condition.

BUT in saying all of this, if you have an aftermarket turbo, and good support systems, ignition cut is more fun :thumbsup:

Once the 35R is on it will go in for another remap, I was wondering if it was possible to do what i said above. I'm not a fan of limiter bashing but some nice flames occaisionally wouldn't go astray :thumbsup:

Im guessins, but there are two ways that i can see to easily do this, You could put appropriate igntion values in to give it a soft limiter- ie 0deg ign timing above a certain rpm, or turn the dwell down till it doesn't run, im pretty sure there is an rpm/dwell table.

This assumes his ECU runs the injectors sequentially up till readline. I thought most of them go batch fire above 4000rpm, meaning of course fuel is being squirted at the back of closed inlet valves in portions of the total millisec requirement. Half or 3/4 strength charge can indeed be ingested into the cylinder. I could be wrong, maybe the R32 ECU is seq the entire rev range... :D
