Just Came Back From Surfers.

hey queenslanders just finished holidaying in surfers. had an awesome time and the amount of imports i saw amazed me.

i had a hyindai getz for a rental.lol. i followed a r33 cause i saw many import cars that night.lost him as my pos car couldnt keep up. i turned off the hiway into some big carpark and i seen shitloads of import cars. was awesome to see.

stayed there for a while havin a look. Im so surprised there was no cops picking on you guys.

if that was in victoria 80% of cars would of had a defect.

i wanna live there!!!

100% of the cars you saw in that car park probably had defects too bud. It isnt any better up here. :D

I see alot of R32's, and R33's up here, as per usual, but what I've so many of since I've been up here are S13 Silvia's.

I just moved to the Gold Coast from Sydney,.. honestly I miss Sydney, but that's mainly because I don't know anyone up here, and have no clue what to do, or where to go on weekends.

The Broadwater car park definately seems to be a saturday night hotspot,... the first weekend I was up here was when the cops defected something like 119 cars, and confiscated 7, something along those lines anyway.

I went to check it out for the first time last saturday, although I'd usually try to stay clear from such attention, in Sydney anyways,... but I got nothing better to do up here as of yet.

I didn't realise before how far Brisbane city is from the Gold Coast,.... so is Surfer's the only place to go out on weekends?

You sure picked a great city to move to. Gold coast is awesome. Soon you will have many friends and maybe a few hotties ( preferably in bekini's and not mankini's ). Anyway, enjoy yourself, i sure you will find some good spots to hang out. Also, Gold coast is sometimes a hotspot for defect cops. Just make sure your car is legal and you won't have any problems.

Now in Sydney.....well EVERYWHERE is far there! I got told Parramatta wasnt 'that' far to the city....my ass it takes frigging ages!

Gold Coast is like 40-50 mins from Brisbane so I hear.

Parramatta is only 30 mins from the city. The only reason why it probably seems long is that there's 10x more traffic in Sydney, especially if you don't take the M4.

Driving for 30mins from Parra to a nightclub in the city is normal,... but now I'll have to drive 50mins along the M1 to get to Brisbane ?

After checking out Surfer's, there's only so many places to go,... and I have no idea where all the hotties are hiding ? Maybe Brisbane is the go on the weekends.

Welcome to the coast infamous :D You'll get over missing Sydney before long, I moved to GC in '03 and it was weird at first but suprisingly easy to settle in because practically everyone is from other states :ermm:

Gold coast chicks are a hell of alot more decent then brissy girls.(sorry but its true :ermm:) Depending on your age really depends on which clubs you wanna head out too.

But brissy clubs are hell of alot better then gold coast haha.

the goldcoast clubs are starting to pickup their act though.

the bedroom, drinks, cocktails & platinum nightclubs are some of the better ones on the coast.

but when it comes clubbing in brisbane... they valley is the best place to go - family, met, planet, birdies, etc.

i moved here in 04 and i didnt just move state i moved country! u will settle in and meet some pretty cool people on the coast. i couldnt believe the cars when i got here first and as soon as i stepped out of bris airport i fell in love with skylines cos id never seen a skyline in real life before and since then ive seen so many crazy cars!

got over surfers AGES ago, id rather go to a pub or rsl now, but thats prob cos im not searching for tail, i have my women.

      Which are almost all nonsense. Ignore. Obviously enough, if it is not a porous block, then any such thing is a waste of time. External block surface? Would be a waste of time, if the block was actually porous. It would need to go on the inside, which is inaccessible, and even if the block was open deck so that that area was acessible, it would be unlikely to work. But seeing as this is all nonsense, stop worrying about it.   If the coolant is coming from the side of the block it is 10:1 odds that it is either a welch plug, or it is coming from the head gasket. Maybe from one of the coolant lines feeding the turbo, or even the heater. Liquids that leak from up high can travel sideways along casting surfaces or pipes, etc on the engine before finding a spot from which to drop.

      Yeah rust is sadly also a bit of an issue on my car. Doubt there is many cars out there that actually have no rust in those aeas. The strut towers look fine but some of the surounding metal sheets show a bit of brown cancer peeking out from in between. I hope I can make do with external remedies and won't have to rip open the whole front end anytime soon. It looks somewhat minor compared to some shit I have seen online. I have worked on a few cars but I expect the RB26 to be my first 'engine out' job at some point.

      Welcome Jan, It's very likely that you are in over your head. You'll just have to learn to swim hard and fast! These old rust buckets have more ways to bankrupt us than almost any other car. But hopefully there's nothing wrong that ruins the whole show! We can help a fair bit. There's plenty here who've been fixing these things for >25 years. cheers

      Hi all. First off, thanks for reading my post. So end of last season I put the car away knowing I was leaking at least two fluids. One of them being rear turbo's oil. I went to my car recently that is waiting in a garage to take a peek with my boroscope to try and see if I can narrow down the souce of oil before taking it out of storage. What I found is not so great I think. The rear turbo is (probably) leaking from the oil drain. The hose and it's clamps are probably the original ones, so most likely just worn out or loose. However I spotted a line of rust going straight down from the turbo oil feed, as if water leaked out of there at some point. Also explains the red liquid that was dripping from my front subframe, which I initially thought was power steering. I can even see coolant drops hanging off the side of the oil pan as well. After a quick hit on the web I found a select few discussions about porous engine blocks. My question is if the pics of the turbo oil feed and the left hand side of the block (imgur link below) looks like it could be exactly that to you. Maybe someone in the community has seen it before and knows what it looks like. If it actually is a porously leaking block, has anyone attempted at fixing it with simple methods like putting a sealer in the cooling system and using something like jb weld on the block surface, or will it just leak in 2 weeks again? I could not find any detailed info or pictures on this topic. If I need a new engine, tell me softly. https://imgur.com/a/knVvmZ8

      Hey all. I'm 23 and from Germany, September last year I bought a mildly modded 1995 GTR Vspec. Looks great and was fun so far, but I already have a list of issues of various severity that I need to take care of, potentially growing longer the closer I look. I just hope I'm not in over my head, I really want to keep the car and work towards it becoming great.
