Hey guys

Fitted my HKS 3037 Pro S turbo kit from JPS a while ago, everything has been running smoothly so far, only problem i had was trying to get the wastegate back on after i had rotated the housings, looks like i was having trouble because JPS have sent me the wrong bracket, the bracket that i should have got would have been angled, but the bracket they sent me was an adjustable bracket that isnt on and angle, so the when the actuator is bolted up the actuator sits flat but the rod sits on an angle so that it can clip onto the was flap.

if you look at the pics bellow you can see how much of an angle my actuator rod is on compared to ''SLYDA's" who has the correct bracket, in my pics the rod acutually looks like it is rubbing on the mounting bracket, but it isnt, it is very very close though, is this going to cause any problems? should i leave it how it is or make a new bracket?

I would contact JPS and ask them to send me a new bracket but my tune is 14days days so i dont really want to be sitting around waiting/wondering if the bracket will arrive in time.

Would really appreciate some help.

Ur Bracket looks adjustable? how bout loosing off those 2 bolts and sliding it?? see if u can get a bit more clearance.. funny thing is that red mark.. looks like it has been set like that by HKS.. Its intresting that the instructions show the bracket that came on mine though... it shouldnt make any difference i dont believe when the actuator starts moving foward it prob will go out slightly towards the right anyway..

Id love to see if moving by connecting the actuator to a air blower with its reg set to say 20PSI and watch it move in and out... its also importaint to make sure theres quite a bit of tention holding that wastegate door closed. otherwise it will just creep open anyway.

If you don't have to return the existing bracket i'd just drill a new hole in the bit that bolts to the turbo so you can mount the second part that the actuator is fitted to at a bit of an angle.

or you can go super dodgy stylez and bend the arm on the actuator.

Yea it is adjustable, i put the red mark on there as i spent most of the day trying to adjust to to see if i could make it any better, everything i tried didnt change the angle of the rod much and it was still nearly rubbing on the bracket, im 100% sure i have been sent the wrong bracket (not sure how) as even the instructions show the same bracket that you have.

I have just emailed JPS to see if they can send me a new bracket before the 10th of march (car is booked in for a tune and i dont want to piss my tuner around by cancelling it as he is always pretty busy) hopefully the get back to me with a solution, dahm i hate when people dont send the correct parts :laugh:

Jeebuz, thats some serious angle. Id be cautious about even leaving it like it is in the photo over night, due to straining the diaphragm. Its got such a vital role in boost control i would be ultra careful.

Personally, if your that time short, I'd see if Slyda can get you some better photos, and make the bracket yourself with some sheet steel... that or make a new rod end, that will fit onto the threaded end.

So having the rod on that angle can damage the diaphram? :laugh: , ive been driving the car like this for about 1month ,it seems to drive fine, although it does feel a little laggy

You dont need to make a new bracket, what you do is this. Drill a hole slightly larger than bolt roughly there, you can do this by loosing off the top bolt removing the left one completly marking a hole in the middle of the adjustable bit and then drill. The adjustable end has HEAPSSSS of thread on it and you will easily be able to compensate. so remove circlip and make the thing about 6 or 7MM to short or so (to put tention on wastegate door) reattach rod tighten locking nut and done :(.. dont loose the circliip putting it back on, I found getting the actuator the 6 or 7MM over a real pain in the ass so i cheated :) gotta love air blower set to 20PSI attached to actuator line lol and guess what the HKS Actuator is back on the turbo correctally, no angle issues.. no major fabrication. Problem solved! (included picture) if you look at mine the bottom of the actuator is about 2.5cms from the housing of the turbo.. urs is like 5... if u compare where my bracket bolts too and where yours does.. you will get the point where the hole needs to be drilled! it doesnt have to be dead on straight.. but not looking like its about to hit would be good!

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers    
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
