looks sexy as! is that stainless piping or polished alloy? Looks like stainless? Need a stainless shield for your pod filter to match, keep those intake temps down a lil more.

Looks very tidy! Hope my engine bay ends up looking like that. I like the wheels also.

yeh all stainless . you would not think a first year apprentice made these for me hey does a mad job and he is also doing my cam covers as well . pod cover is on its way .

na after all the trouble i had i finialy got a x force manifold that fitted and gave enough room to fit a dump pipe through. and he is now starting to make a stainless manifold of his own design will post pics when he is done he is a smart lil guy .he is also making me a 3 inch polished zorst should look mad .

small thing bernard, the intercooler piping would make more sense like the gibson style (per plazmaman version pictured)

there may not be much heating of the charge due to the proximity to the turbo but given the tidy pipepwork it shouldn't be a big stretch to copy something like this and shorten the pipe run.

Yeah the shorter pipework makes more sense, as does keeping it from the turbo, but then there'd be less shininess.

Who else has decent engine bays....?

Your cam covers are alloy - should polish them. And the gear cover (im pretty sure) is stamped steel? strip it... polish it too... :-)

looks great, i would have moved that power steering container out the way as its likely to get damn hot in that area, i moved mine next to the radiator right at the front on the passenger side, u can possibly spot it in these pics below.

Sonofabitch i KNEW youd post up and make us all look bad haha....

Is the coilpack cover in these alloy as well? What is the cam gear cover made of? is it all alloy, if youve managed to polish it up like that? And is that the stock inlet plenum too?

Makes mine look sh1t haha...

Sup buddy,

noticed ur turbo. It has the marking of a XS Power/ china build copy turbo (Turbo ZY)

which was being sold on EBAY.

link for info.

i could be wrong but what spec is ur turbo?

well its been tuned and hasnt failed yet !!

unique - the polished thing next to the battery, that has the 2 big braided hoses running off it onto either back-side of the engine.... what is it??? looks like a cooler of some sort?

going by the fact that it is plumbed into the rocker covers, I would suspect it is a catch can?

yes its an oil catch can, and yes all the covers (cam, coilpack, cam gear, stock plenum, etc) are aluminium. I have polished my alternator and water outlet hoses as well, plus anything else that is polishable. Definately not user friendly to work on but, its a nightmare to keep looking clean and i rebuff mine every other week lol, but mine does get worked on alot and i make sure i dont touch the polished bits with greasy fingers or it doesnt like coming off too easy :D

Excellent. Trying to think of ideas to give mine a lift in the engine bay. Seeing as i dont have a licence til august now... !!!!

    • That's a given!  Bit hard to powdercoat it properly without removing them! 😁
    • No detail on compressor or turbine sizes, which doesn't help with housing size selection with that kit. However, from SR20DET mucking about and money torching perspective, a GTX2860R Gen 2 w/ 0.64 (46mm inducer) will do ~260kW on E85 about 1.5bar of boost. All in before 3000pm, which cause a gearbox to shatter. Now imagine the same turbo, on a modern motor with an extra 0.5L of displacement, and heaps of cam timing adjustability (not an on/off affair like the Nissan shit boxes). If this was my car (which I would never own or consider buying, ever!), I would go for a nice twin scroll setup, and a G30-660. Gates plumbed back, no silly shit. Lean on the cam timing, big displacement to create a flat-ish torque curve.
    • Do you plan on using 98 or e85?
    • This should be pretty easy. 200rwkW is just about the max power out of an RB25 stock turbo. So, 12ish psi on a 2.5L. That boost limited mainly by the prospect of seeing the turbine in the cat after the smoke show. A steel wheeled equivalent would likely happily do ~220rwkW at something like 17 psi, where it would probably be bumping into the usual limits of such a sized turbo. These things have like a .48 rear. You will not need the 0.86 rear. The 0.64 will be fine. In fact, if you were looking at various mid-200rwkW options for RBs, most of them would be in a 0.64 rear. So, I think you will definitely want to be no bigger than that for a same sized but probably even more efficient (at making power) modern engine.
