U ARE SCREWED DUDE.

256 is pushing it. any more and u WILL WITHOUT A DOUBT, need springs and solid conversion.

also, common 264 or 260 d cams have 10.25mm lift.

i sure hope that u have some decent injectors and a ecu to smooth out the rough edges.

but its all worth it for that idle :rofl::D

^^of course those are procams....not poncams.

I have the Tomei Poncams in my car.256 are direct drop in as stated by Tomei.

Jeff you want to get a set of drop ins.

really any cam upgrade thats going to be reved hard needs springs and retainers but for what you want a set of drop ins will be fine.

There is plenty of options all of which will suit your application. Just see what you can get for the money and go with it.

If you want it lumpy like my car its going to cost alot more than the normal drop in option.

The cams alone become more expensive

Budget for springs and retainers. Solid lifter conversion, labour to check piston to valve clearance and set-up the rest of the head to suit.

My head cost as much to build up as the bottom end did.

Joeys car has the drop in tomei's.

They are not your only option.

HKS, JUN, TODA, Tomei all offer drop in cams for the RB25. Tomei's are the most widely used though.

If you want it to be the best it can then your going to need the larger cams with the springs etc but if being budget concious then drop ins will need to sufice.

If you want big drop in's then look for some second hand apexi's on japan yahoo. They made up to 280 duration but are no longer available new.

If you want easy new biggest currently available drop ins then go for hks. 256 8.8mm inlet, 264 9.0mm exhaust. I run these myself with stock lifters and springs and retain vct. As long as you keep the boost under 20psi you won't have an issue.

If you don't mind losing the vct then go hks 264/264 with adjustable gears.

You won't get any higher lift without head work and solid conversion.

Now a question, when is it surging? You have a pair of N1's bolted to the side of your 25 right?

actually adve they are gt-ss now, so it surges all the time. :(

i will shove some poncams in and hope it helps. now i have the seat and all it needs to be tracked lol. thanks guys i am decided now, we shall see what happens soon enough

jeff the surging will pretty much be elliminated once its tunned properly this week!

You honestly have no idea what the engine is like till its been tunned and finished. GTss' are not a turbo that causes surging like you have, the tune thats running your engine is basicly the same one that was running it prior to the engine rebuild and the turbo conversion.

Dont buy cams till its done and then decided if your not happy with the surging issue.

Honestly if your going to turn it into a track car the money your going to spend on cams etc would be much better spent towards better suspension/half cage/ brakes etc etc.

The cruising surge you have is not going to effect the car on the track and it wont be nearly as bad as what it is now.
