Sorry to freak u out dude, I'm sure it was at some stage 30k's over=reckless but that was back in the day when P's were only for a year n shit. Man I've had my licence for 20 years, makes a fella feel old as my oldest boy is about a month away from his licence :D

OK NVM, those are the new penalties starting from March 1. But I have a question, if the fine is processed at a later date and arrives AFTER March 1st, it will still be under the old penalty as the incident happened before right?

Yes it will be under the old penalty.

Australian laws are not retrospective. So you would be penalised by the current amount. Not the amount after March 1st.

This is the first I've heard of these new penalties... glad to see they inform the public of these changes so well. Down the bottom of that link it says the ad campaign (which officially comprises of a single press release) started on the 23rd of February. Just one week of advertising via a single press release what are supposed to be new deterrents to stop road fatalities? Gotta love the government. Conveniently just in time for march madness too!
