Help! My Skyline Sounds Like A Rexy

Same thing happened to me, turned out to be the igniter module.

It's a hunch, but is the whine coming from the turbo?

A whining turbo is a dead turbo.

It seems like it is running on 5 cyl.

I took off the cover, and tested the plugs one by one. The coil closest to the windscreen appeared to make no change in the engine sound. I replaced it with the coil at the front of the car and the same thing happened to that cyl but not the previous one.

SO i guess the coil is bollocksed? What do i do now, just get a coil to replace it? I dont want to buy a whole set of splitfires

theres a diy here to seal them up..that may fix it otherwise splitfires

i had a closer look at the problem coil... one of the little metal terminal things was bent!

ill whack it back in now and give it a go.. hopefully that was the problem

time to hit my mate over the head for forcing something incorrectly if this is the problem

good to hear you got it going. I know it wasnt a exhaust leak. it would sound like a truck not wrx.

mine sounded like a rex wen i dropped a cylinder and a half...and had a mad smoke show as well
