I only addressed the fuel issue as it was stated to be a fuel guzzler, which they are not so I was just clearing up that generalisation...

As for anything else, every car has pros and cons... If they were all the same they would only make and sell one car for everybody...

The A pillars are fat cause they have air bags in them, nothing you can do to reduce side unless you remove the air bags...

As for the seats I agree the leather is shit, but thats compaired to BMW or Merc's which are 2-3 times the price. You get what you pay for i guess... (I didnt get leather, I choose cloth)

But I disagree that their uncomfortable, they are electronically adjustable in about 6 different ways and offer much more comfort than the skyline seats...

Put it this way if the commodore was soooooo bad I would not drive one... But its very suitable for my needs, the skyline was useless for my job...

There is no way the skyline could handle doing 50,000kms per year, nor could it offer me a good road side assistance if i needed help...

Lets face it, I go out to central QLD, what happens if I have a problem with a mass prduced Aussie built car... Now compair that to a problem with an import...

If you were faced with having to buy a new car you would look at your needs and then find something suitable, right???

We are not all robots who like or dislike the same thing... My opinion of cars has changed dramiticlly over the past 2 years...

All I used to care about was going fast and it had to have greatbrakes, handle well and sound tough...

Now i need a big boot, I need the ability to carry up to 4 adults if neede be and I want something really safe, still i want a bit of poke (so V8 or turbo 6) and I wanted a manual...

I believe in a saying "Fit for purpose" and a skyline is great for going fast and doing skids and whatever, a commodore/falcon on the other hand is great at going shopping, towing a trailer, and a general good family car etc... The SS/GTP or V8 varity are just the same but with a bit of going fast and doing skids added...

We could sit here all day and point out the flaws on a skyline, but whats the point all cars have flaws like I said above if there were a "perfect" car on the market we would all but it... If your happy with what you drive then great, im not trying to sell you another car... Was just pointing out they certainlly dont use alot of fuel...

I have to agree with some of what you are saying, buying a car for a purpose is a no brainer, when you need a ute, buy a ute, when you need a toy, buy a skyline, when you need a pratical car, buy something that suits, you just had the wrong car for your needs, and while i pretty much despise holden's, whack on a gen tt intercooled twin turbo kit and with the 400rwkw you WILL get from that kit you'll be able to smash %85 of cars on the road, fruit for thought. The longer i own skylines the longer i see there flaws.. but thats mainly because i own a car not suited to my needs, but to my wants, but i'm happy with that. I dont know why everyone is comparing the new holden w60 with r32/33/34 skylines, it's comparing ornages with apples, brand new car/second hand car, import/local, new laws/old laws (in reference to car building laws, emissions/saftey ect). With the rumpured $150k price tag it'll have lets look at one of its competitors and compare it with them, and for the price it puts it up there with the R35 GT-R. Now, lets see those two go head to head and see who comes out with the winner, i will be you a carton of beer it wont be the holden.

Yeah its highlly unlikelly anyone reading this will own one...

I dont see value in that sorta price point, I could buy 3 very nice cars for that sorta money...

Talk about fit for purpose, with 3 cars you could get something to suit almost everything

The pipes have to be a certain distance behind the rearest window, plus it helps if your a multinational company. Just thinking on this a bit, wouldnt the heat out of it effect the tyres and braking with soot and dust?

Id say as a guess the images we are looking at are just a start...

I mean to say what actually comes out as end product will probablly look different...

just look at the first images of the GTR concept, end product was fairly different...

eg: B-pillars, Rear seats changed heavily, Front seats changed to accommodate fatties, Front bar changed for ground clearance, Car raised by a fair bit

would still be cool though

i beleive it is the rear most OPENING window...which gives 2 doors a bit more room to place a side pipe!

150 grand for a V8 commodore..?

Nissan has indicated that is looking at selling the all new GTR for 160 grand..

stuff the whole i need a car to do a job.. I'd be going for style with horsepower!

But, at least Holden have acknowledged that it needs to really improve its products. I think Fords build quality is actually better than holden, but holden has more appeal. If i were to buy a car on what the family requires.. (thats not gonna happen ANY time soon!) then I would spend the big bucks on a V8 diesel cruiser. Cos then u go camping.. rock climbing and run over all the said cars above when u want a car park.. :pirate:

horses of courses. But none of my mates better buy one.!

Yes the new 200 series twin turbo V8 diesel is a hell of a car...

But the sahara comes in at $107k thats like buying a second hand R34 GTR and a brand new 4wd Hilux put together...

That all said, Ill just borrow the old mans keys to his 200 series sahara when I wanta tow something... :D

Meh, all bitching aside I'd have one. At least its the best looking Holden out to date.

While still in conceptual design and will change dramatically, I'd have one any day. Also if you are looking at the price tag and going "omg that is way too much for a car" we're comparing 90's series GTRs and GT-STs to it, which as we all know, are cheap and easily modified but are also not brand spanking new cars. All cars coming off of a production line, straight off the bat are going to be expensive as all hell, take the 300c for example, everyone will be able to afford the Hemi version in a few years.

But all that aside, it's a nice car and it's a shite site better then anything I've seen come out of Holden in a while ... HSV on the other hand ..... =P

damn.... looks hot

pitty it will rattle like a motherfarker, and the door handles will probably fall off after 30 000kms, then it will start chewing oil etc etc

by next year, you will be able to hail one down to take you home from the pub

f*^%ckn spot on man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just jumping in here late - very nice looking. BMW M3 in a big way. has anyone mentioned yet that all the bodywork for this car was actually done in japan...? True story.
