How much would car dealers give for a stock R33 GTS-T coupe with 70 K on the clock in trade in?

Had my Skyline for 2 years now... maybe it is about time to move on.

Its a silver Series 2 R33 GTST coupe. Automatic and totally stock. Has kenwood amp, Pioneer CD player. Mongoose 3 point alarm +immoboliser, dual stage Blitz turbo timer. Very clean and never boosted or moded and never been on the track.

I remember going into a dealer to ask what they'd pay for it and before even checking it out, they gave me a price which was about half of what they're going for.

This was at an Japanese import dealer, could be much different at a Toyota, Holden, etc dealer though.

Ill be going to a Toyota/Ford/Holden dealer as I am not looking for an import... more like Corolla or even Yaris lol

Thanks guys... Im in no rush at all but good to know my options. ill shop around in the next few months and see what best offer they can come up with. Id trade in with 12 K but no less than that. I might just do the private sale or straight swap.

$15K gets a decent condition series2 manual in a private sale.

I'd assume you MIGHT be able to sell the auto series 2 for about $12K - maybe.. if someone wanted an auto.

I've got $10K to spend on a car so that should easily outbid the dealer and buy your car and insurance, and possibly a few mods..

As mentioned, trade in just isn't worth it.

I sold my VX SS for $18k when a dealer wouldn't go a cent over $12k trade in.

I would of thought they may give you $7k and that's trying to find a dealer that would want it!!

Out of curiosity I called up one of those companies who buys your car off you. They offered me $7500 for my 1996 Series 2 skyline. That was funny.

i'm note sure what people expect from a trade-in?

the dealer has to maek money, if they buy your car for 15k when you can't even sell it for that much privately, what's in it for them?

the point of a trade-in is that its a car you either can't sell or can't be bothered selling, thus they take it off your hands immediately.

the price you pay is that it costs you

if you desperately want to sell your R33 and have your mind set on 15k, why not advertise it for 13k, bite the bullet, and sell it within a week or 2

a mate bought a r33 s2 very clean, standard everything apart from jap catback. it had a nice set of 18s and lowering springs. Went into Mackay Toyota and they offered him $2500 ..... this was right after he bought it for $14k
