Hey guys,

Last nite round 8ish i was exiting Salisbury Hwy at the signed 80km/h. Once merging to go on Pt Wakefield Rd i accelerated to 90km/h in order to get in front of the road trains fast approaching, but also to my knowledge that part of the road is 90...guess not? FLASH! I was greeted by a silver Ford Falcon radar & as i looked back saying various obsenities, i noticed it going off like fireworks hence suggesting everyone else thought it was a 90 zone also.

Anyone know the limit of this area of Pt Wakefield? Seems as tho this was merely an easy revenue raiser, not happy Janice! ;)

I had my picture taken this morning on Dashwood Road, Beaumont - I didn't realise it was a 50 zone - saw the flash and reckon I was doing about 58km/h - the 50km/h sign was shortly after it - thing that sucks most is that Dashwood Rd is a wide, open road (albeit with a few houses on it) - and it is a hard yellow line road in the street directory, which means it is a SEMI-MAIN road - how can it be 50km/h? Dang it

I know the camera thats at the Exit Salisbury to Pt Wakefield... I got flashed once but I guess at the time I got flashed I was on the inside lane with another car slightly behind me. Lucky! Or maybe its the other car that was speeding.... I'll never know.

They often have a camera there... people speed up to merge and with a higher speed limit sign little bit ahead people tend to speed up as they merge and get to the next sign's speed limit... but thats where the camera gets ya.

that's sneaky :D

coz they know most would have to speed to merge into Pt Wakefield rd

you shouldnt have to speed to merge onto pt wakefield rd (or any road)...........a better choice of phrasing there would be better................as for something to do with driving to the traffic (yeah its a pain to slow down but you have to sometimes)

also watch the speed limits along pt wakefield rd atm............at least thru to waterloo cnr road.......it drops off 90 a few times........back to 80 past some excavations, 60 past some of the works, and even down to 40 and 25 at the waterloo cnr lights

and next thurs it'll be 25 past the bit by martins road............as we'll b there again tryin to move the stobie poles over

ask for photo :) its free

Dang,

so i guess there's nothing else to do other then "cop" it on the chin...any ideas how many points i lose & what monetary figure i'll be kindly donating to our government?

you shouldnt have to speed to merge onto pt wakefield rd (or any road)...........

legally speaking yes

going around the bend and merging into traffic, that's the best bit to pounce on it >_>

u just have to look out for late those model cummys and fords sitting on the side of the road

Bad luck dude, but it's 80km/h through there. If you're heading into the city, Port Wakefeild changes to 80km/h between Globe Derby and that intersection (just befere the right hand turning lane starts) You would have had your own lane there so I'm guessing you were heading out of the city. The limit out is still 80km/h and changes up to 90km/h 100m or so up from the merge lane.

I don't agree with cameras near merging areas, I think it is more important to be paying attention to what's around you rather than looking at the dash.

    • Ok, still waiting for a date to get the cams installed on the MX5, why so long, because MX5 Mania has received a few new sets of different cams with different specs for the MZR and are currently trialling them, and working out what is best for 2.5 "powers" with stock internals, in the end if I go bigger than the Kelford stage 1 cams I'll need to look at the valve springs  Hopefully I'll get the news on them next week As for the boot of the car getting fixed, I hopefully pick it up early next week, I was sweating on picking it up yesterday but, meh, it was not to be, so ne weekend cruising for me
    • Ok got some old tyres for you guys...my car has been sitting around un-driven for about 6 years now. I had it on the original rims with the shitty compliance tyres it got it with back in 2006, which were manufactured in 2004... Sidewalls eventually rotted and split open, obviously no air in them and the rims were holding the car up. Just swapped them with some 17" Work rims and tyres which are probably 10+ years old too but at least holding air
