^^ i reakon your sentence makes sense on paper, however rebuilding an engine back to std compared to building a 1000hp monster are 2 very different things.... whilst shareing the same base.

$20K? Was a quote given to your friend before all this work started?

To charge that sort of money for labour alone is bullshit, and would seem to indicate a workshop that is not experienced with building BIG horsepower RB26's and is charging the customer while they learn on the fly. I have never heard of a build incurring anywhere near that sort of coin for pure labour.
