Hey guys,

I have an r32, rb20 at the moment, basic mods; r33 turbo, front mount, exhaust, safc II, etc, putting out about 170kw atw, looking for around 250 atw, have been advised the best way to go about getting more power at the wheels is to do an rb25 conversion. Just wondering exactly what i need to get this in my 32. I have been told that r32 mounts and gearbox line up fine, just wondering about wiring, and clutch. As it is at the moment, my clutch is slipping a little, so im going to keep that untill i do the conversion, will i need to buy an rb25 clutch or an rb20 clutch or are the the same? Also does anyone know of any garages in Brisbane that will be able to complete the conversion and do a decent job of it.

Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Rb20 and 25 clutches are the same. You will need a good auto elec. Everyting ellse bolts up nicely. You will also need a diffrent throtle cable from memory. and r33 ecu and loom cos the rb20 ecu wont run the vct or the injectors.

To be honest it would be much eiser to slap a 2530 on a rb20 and make a solid 220kw.

Yeah thats my other option, but i've just had a lot of people say that you can waste a lot of money trying to get good power out of an rb20...

Definetly looking at going with an rb25 box, do you need to mod the tail shaft to fit it in?

yes tail shaft will need to be modified. Most likely have a custom one made up. While your there i would

seriously look at changing the diff also.

Been there, done that.

Get a half cut so you get the ECU and loom.

The RB25DET produces TORQUE - torque to burn! The R32 'box is holding up quite well in mine (but it is a GTS4, not a GTSt), with up to 180kW coming out all 4 wheels.

I've talked to a a mechanic who has done the conversion before, and he reckons its easier to use the rb20 loom and just wire in the few extra things, vct ect. is that true?

honestly, stick with abz idea of "2530 on a rb20 and make a solid 220kw."

my conversion was done in japan but if it came with a rb20 i wouldnt bother putting in a 25 because it will cost way to much...

2.5k for engine + 2k for box 500-1000 labour (including re loom) + custom tail shaft + other bits n peices +engineers cert $1200 = big money

if u really want the 25 sell urs and buy one that has already been done.

Mmmm I wouldnt suggest using a rb20ecu. Im running a rb25 ecu. Best to let the ecu deal with the injectors and the vct rater than putting in an extra system.

RB25 box is a great idea. All you need is the yoke (the part that comes out of the back of the box) and get a tail shaft place to weld in on to the original 32 tail shaft.

No need to upgrade the diff. The R200 is fine. A nice nismo or kazz LSD is always good and getting a diff place to assemble and align the gears will ensure you never have to worry about it.

Another good turbo option is a td06. That will get you a decent 260kw dayt in day out.

It all boils down to how much you want to spend and how much power you want...a rb20 making 200-220rwkw is not a bad thing...a rb25 box is definitely a good idea though...

Yeah from the response i've been getting, as im only looking for 220-250 kw, be better to keep rb20 and work that. no point spending all that cash to throw a 25 in and only look to get 250 out of it...

thanks for the responses guys
