I feel like a real lamo posting a thread on a site about skylines when i have a pintara, anyoo..

Does anyone know how to remove the airbox and replace it with a pod filter on a pintara? its 1986, 2ltr fuel injected 4 cylinder. It has some weird thingy on the airbox that has a little flap in it and this big meaty electrical doohicky on the bottom, it seems to be connected to the ignition, i assume it modifies the mixture to make the engine run good. WHen you piss it off, the engine splutters and carries on. Anyone got any ideas???

Cheers

That wierd thingy joined to the airbox with the flap is your air flow meter. This is very important DO NOT REMOVE IT

you need to get a pod airfilter, and also an adapter that bolts on the air flow meter where it used to bolt up to the standard air box. You then mount the pod on the adaptor.

hope that helps....

ps you should be able to buy adaptors for the pod filter from most places like motormate, supercheap auto, autobarn etc. they even sell blank ones where you drill the holes yourself.

This pic may or may not help you.......

It's on an RB30, but it should give you an idea of what it should look like when you're done (without the purple bits!:D;) )

If you go to Autobarn (or similar) and tell them what you need, they should be able to help you out with all the parts.

Sweet! thanks heaps for the help, i wasnt sure if i was supposed to try and remove the flow regulator or not. I think ill make an adaptor out of fibre glass or something, i got plenty of that around. This is just a temorary measure untill i stick an rb20det into the thing

Cheers
