Hey,

So I just bought some carbon fibre eyelids for my r32...

What's the best stuff to fit them with? The double sided tape I have isn't working because there seems to be a slight twist in the eyelids the way they are shaped... They're different to other skylines coz the eyelid actually goes around onto the indicator as well.....

Anyone else got these eyelids fitted? What did you do to get them to stick down properly???

Is it possible to cut them where they shape around for the indicator?

you two wanna get a room? :(

lol at the shop we use black automotive silicone (the stuff that holds your windows in and seals your tail lights. they're resistant to high heat and non reactive to water and other daily use chemicals that your car might get covered in (waxes, polishes, detergents etc). They usually come in a sausage to put into a dispenser.

How easy is the liquid nails, head gasket sealant to remove the eyelids off if need be though?

I just got a pair of eyelids arrive for my 34 today, so im looking at the best way to fit it on. I read on a forum some people use double sided 3M tape (red backing) and it flew off when he was on the freeway?

Anyone else wanna share some insight?

Cheers. (Y).

Liquid nails will never come off. even if you want it to. Use Sikaflex (spelling?). You can pick it up at Bunnings in the squeezy tube. Also get a caulking gun to put it on, they're like $3. Make sure on the back it says its black in colour, I got a tube the other day and it was white. Didn't check colour first.

Good luck. Post pics of finished job or

*Edit: Sikaflex goes like a very hard rubber when it sets, unlike liquid nails. That sh*t goes rock solid.

Can Sikaflex be removed easily if I want to take off the eyelids for whatever reason, respray etc.

So will a strong 3M double sided tape not do the job reliably or..? I just don't want the thing flying off into another car and stuff.

Rather do it right.

Dude get packmate Badge double sided tape from supercheap. far better then 3m. holds my eyelids on at 160+ so its doing pretty well. thats on a 34 aswell. and you can pull them off with no damage. I wouldnt use anything else!

    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
    • I was just going to say that it's good to see you picking up the pace again. Hope the surgery goes well. More downtime just means more time to come up with new ways of digging a deeper rabbithole
    • How do they compare in size? I have the Yaris coil packs in mine and they work fine. But they are either bigger or sit differently so the engine cover doesn't fit anymore. Not the end of the world but not great either. Do the R35 ones sit flush?
