Can anybody confirm firstly that there is nobody in VIC who can tune a HKS F-Con V Pro? And Secondly if BD4S are still doing these?

I'm buying a V35 from Japan which unfortunately is running one of these, I don't have the budget to change the management when it arrives and I'm hoping somebody can tune it?!

Will the Japanese tune be ok if the car isn't modified any further?

i had the software and gear lined up but it seemed there was not enough demand to warrant it... $4k for the software... not cheap

The only shop's in Australia that can currently tune the HKS F-Con V Pro are:

TUNEHOUSE in Sydney

Jim Ghelis

11 Chalder Street

Marrickville NSW 2204

02 9557 4000

and

XSpeed in Perth

Hanson Yeoh

18 Zeta Crescent

O'Connor WA 6163

08 9331 8088

From 1st July 2008 Tom at BD4 has not accepted new offer from HKS so is no longer a HKS distributor or tuner. Other shops and people that claim to be able to tune the V-Pro are unable to. Without the HKS dongle key software is useless. They key itself that people claim to have don't work.

I'm currently in the process of working out a HKS Pro Dealer Tuning Network in Aust but it's a slow process due to HKS having to visit and approve all dealers.

HKS and I will be in Sydney/Perth Oct/Nov for more training and release of new F-Con V Pro with current dealers. Any prospective dealers are welcome to email me at [email protected]

So UWISSH! please contact Jim at Tunehouse and tell him Martin reccomended you.

Regards

Martin

2 tuners in australia - awesome

dude, sell it like i said before and buy something locally supported

there are dozens of great ecu's with lots of tuner coverage

there is nothing the fcon does that the other ecu's wont do

If he lives in Wollongong/Sydney I would have thought Tunehouse in Sydney was local support for him. Why go to the expense of changing the computer when he can have it tuned locally.

And also depending on what other ECU's you are thinking unless you go top shelf for Motec of Autronic the other manufacturers are inferior to HKS F-CON. I must admit though it's all about value for money but having a re-tune surely has to be cheaper than buying a new computer.

Matin

Two tuners in AUS, limits you like a dog with 1 leg.

I'd never have/use any ECU that isnt reasonably well supported around the place.

If you have an issue with the tuner or anything similar, your stuffed. You cant even get help over internet forums etc for it. Not that all forum stuff is right, but at least it aids in trouble shooting etc. Im sure these forums have saved a lot of people, a lot of money over the years :P

IMO - Rip it out, sell it on ebay as paul suggested, and buy a decently accepted ECU.

You'll find it'll probably workout similar in price especially when you considering PFC's are only $900 and anyone can tune it, so for what, $1500 you can have a new ECU installed and tuned. Choice is clear.

All the extra "features" ths F-con might have over a PFC, you simply will never need in a road car also.

Hell, if a PFC is good enough for your 'run of the mill' 350rwkw circuit GTR, cant be that bad for $900 now can it?

I don’t see value in something that I'll

Hey, the guy asked if someone in Sydney can tune his HKS F-Con V Pro. I supplied the answer to his question - whether you like it is another matter. I'm not stealing his thread with mindless dribble. Simple answer is Jim at Tunehouse to his question.

or spend $4k on the software and dongle which is readily available ex japan :P

Martin what is involved in becoming a pro shop? im a greddy pro shop is that an issue?

URAS - Best you shoot me an email at work cause forums are a waste of time to talk if you are serious. And we have purchased many of the so called keys over the years and non of them work.

Cheers

Marty

Yeah and leading the horse to water is also good.

Sometimes it helps to have background information, something that as a HKS supplier you would never tell

thanx for all the input guys but due to the lack of knowledge and availability of tuners i have recently gone out and bought myself a power fc. Atleast this way i know there are heaps of people who can tune it and if i have problems its easy for me to find out how to fix them.

thanx again guys it was much appreciated

    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
    • Yes, a plan for non-action is always my first sort of plan! I'm happy to see what falls out of invision's update. I had been having some thoughts on what to do with this the other day and they all seem to have fled my memory, after various solar panel induced traumas, squeaking suspension sphericals, etc etc, over the last little bit. I'll try and recall what I had in mind and make sure that I put it into print in some form before the Alzheimer's strikes again.
    • The ability to have both a 5500 stall for launching, and a regular lockup for every other scenario is pretty sweet. Does it actually work well like that though in the real world? Would it hold up to track use and otherwise you'd never know you had a stall converter in it? If so, that's awesome
    • The thing is, once the content has been tagged we can chop and change the end result as much as we want. Its identifying the content in the first place that needs to be done regardless of the final outcome.
    • Sorry @GTSBoy I thought I'd replied here. There's a new BIG version of invision coming out soon, it might be worth waiting until that happens as it contains a lot of improved functionality for tags. My suggestion would be to add a top level page (not thread) with some info on it and then link to sub pages for various topics. We could even just start really simple with 2 or 3 pages underneath it. Those pages could just have a view (like a pre configured search result) of the tags we choose to put on it. We could have some background or an intro on each of these pages. My only issue is that while admins and mods can update the existing content to contain the tags we want, new posts can have whatever tags the author wants. That said, the reason our tags are so messy is because of that, so maybe we restrict tagging to admins/mods in edits.
