Driving yesterday, my exhaust note suddenly changed & has gone very tinny. The car is running std. manifold, custom GCG turbo (with adaptor plate on exh housing, 2.5" dump. The noise seems to be coming from the manifold area but with the manifold, turbo, exhaust adaptor & dump pipe all so close it is hard to pinpoint the leak exactly. Anyone have any ideas? I know with intake leaks, u spray some carby clean around & revs will climb when it is sucked in... Was hopin some1 had a similar trick for exhaust leaks...

Never tried it, but I read on here recently that bocking exhaust at the rear tailpipe (best done with a mate, so its not staying blocked too long) and listen for noises around the suspect area, can work.

Have you lost any power? Could have your cat collapsed?

Did it occur after some WOT? could a piece of gasket been spat out, due to flange <-> flange not tight enough? (people don't clean studs properally when re-using)

^^^ Exactly, that is what why do at work. Block it off and the gasses will try to escape through the hole. You can leave it blocked as long as you want, cos if it has no leak, it'll force its way through your hand anyway. Use a rag to block it up, but be careful cos it is hot! But we usually do this on stoxk exhaust sytems, might be alot harder blocking off a cannon! But it works the same.
