hi all,

i installed my hks tt type 1 on the weekend.

at the moment i have a mongoose alarm,

now my problem is:

that when the timer is idling the car, i have to lock the doors manually and if someone tries to break in the alarm wont go off.

does anyone know how to trick the alarm to think that the engine is off so i can arm the alarm whilst the timer is still running?

thanks

kuro

You need to add a normally closed relay which is triggered when the turbo timer starts.

It should open the ignition sense circuit of the alarm.

So... when you switch the car on, the alarm can sense the ignition.

When you switch the car off, the turbo timer kicks in and opens the ignition sense circuit.

The alarm thinks the car is off but the timer is still running.

You can now arm your alarm with the engine running on turbo timer...

Is this an easy job for any Auto Elec, I know I certainly have no idea how to do it? I have a similar problem to kuro, with a HKS TT & Black Widow alarm, its a pain having to wait around till the timer turns off.

Shane:

Yep... easy as. I did mine all myself and I am not a sparky... Mine is a HKS TT too so it can definitely be done.

This is how I had it explained to me...

the alarm senses ignition voltage to decide if it can arm.

the turbo timer supplies voltage to the ignition lead.

thus the alarm can't be armed with the timer activated.

install a normally closed relay in the alarm's voltage sense lead.

the relay is switched by the turbo timer's ignition lead.

when the timer comes on and supplies voltage to the ignition, the relay is opened.

the alarm ignition sense lead is isolated from the ignition lead.

thus the alarm is fooled into thinking the car is not running.

It is really simple. You need a normally closed or changeover relay. You will have a ignition sense wire going to your alarm. Cut it in half and connect it to pins 30 and 87 (or whichever pin is normally closed).

Your HKS TT will have a green and yellow wire coming out which usually join together at the 4-3pin adaptor.

Seperate the Yellow wire from the Green wire and join it to pin 86.

Pin 85 goes to ground..

Your mileage may differ... Specifications subject to change without notice...

    • Hey, like MBS206 mentioned; I dropped off my short block and rotating assembly Monday. With a quick verification, he believes he can clear it up with just a hone and new rings but he will confirm once the rotating assembly is out. If I were you, I would either go stroker or just replace the block if it does need to be bored over to next size. Block is cheaper then forged pistons.
    • live in the UK, and London has introduced a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) that requires individuals to pay £13 if their car doesn’t meet the required emissions standards.   The standard specifies that NOx emissions must be less than 0.08 g/km (i.e., the vehicle must meet Euro 4 standards or better, which generally results in NOx levels of around 0.08 grams per kilometer).   I reached out to Nissan UK, and they advised me to contact Nissan Japan directly. Does anyone have contact details for Nissan Japan or any certifications of conformity that show the emission details or NOx levels for the RB25DET engine?   Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    • these guys recommended to me and supplied custom 4 inch mufflers, couldn't be happier. They will spec a muffler to your preferred level of sound and know RB's well.  https://spmufflers.com.au/
    • Yeah this used to happen to me every year and a quick call would at least raise the agreed value back up / reduce the premium, but usually both.    That said for the first time on the renewal this year our agreed values went up or stayed the same over the fleet and the premium came down so that was a nice surprise.
    • I don't even go that hard core. I just say "how do you expect me to stay, when you increase my premium, and reduce the value of the car?"   Then play a game of shut the f**k up. Most of the time it's a computer that did the adjustment, and the people will happily change it around for you.
