Now about a month ago i got done for speeding and lost my license and issued with a $1642 fine.

A week or 2 later i was reading my fine and discovered they had spelt my surname wrong,

im just wondering if there is any provision for me to get out of paying my fine or anything?

theres been alot of talk lately about the rta adding three extra days to the suspension notice and apparently if that has happened it means the suspension is illegal and void. but i would be grabbing my keys and jump out driving even if this is the case..

oooo dunno.. find out if you're actually suspended... if you're caught driving suspended you'll probably lose your license, they may take you to court, not to mention huge fines.. I'd rather spend that money on mods for my car...

Don't try it.

The case only applies to certain suspensions and the loophole was closed late last month when it came under the spotlight.

I guess in my case its pretty obvious,as they took my license off me on the spot.

Also does any one know how long my suspension will be for?i know its at least 6 months, but when i was pulled over

i only had 1 demerit point remaining. So will i loose it for an extra 3 months or more on top of the 6 or what happens there?

cheers.

its amazing what you can get away with. i was driving with a mate not too long ago who had no licence (nor did I) anyway we were only travelling about 10 mins up the road when we caught up to a police car who all of a sudden slowed from 60km down to 40km we followed for about 500m up the road when all of a suddenn another cop car pulls out of a side street behind us.

the cop behind puts his lights on and we pull over. cops do their usual RBT story and then ask us to wait while they check the car and his licence. they come back with the news that he has no licence. he played dumb quite well telling the officer there must be some sort of mistake.

so after about half an hour of the cops calling the station and the rta and a whole bunch of bulls**t from my mate they actually let hime get back in the car and drive away. he somehow convinced them that he wasnt dumb enough to be driving a skyline with no licence and it seemed to work.

so idunno how it worked but it did. guess they just coulnt be bothered trying to prove he didnt have a licence.

    • Thanks for your insight, it being basically useless will impact my decision for sure. I thought it may help the engine breath better I guess. But then again, I have also been told that tuning an RB20DE is also not worth it. Exactly, we follow EU Regulations. There is a bit more leeway on older vehicles. My Porsche 924 came without a cat from factory and managed to pass, they still mentioned that I have quite high emissions on it though.
    • My apologies, I stand corrected. Thanks for registering to mention this! And thank you for actually reaching out to the council to clarify. This is the sensible thing to do and the opposite of what I was alluding you were doing. I may have seen too much outrage and hate being fueled on the internet and it has made me a somewhat cynical old man. Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are real people behind websites and accounts. In my defence, CarExpert and CarExplore do read quite similarly at a glance. I shall try and do better in the future. (Please stick around to get the latest scoops on dealing with old Nissan shitboxes )
    • Don't bother. The poor little RB20 doesn't make enough gas flow to challenge the flow capabilities of even the littlest cat, and you won't make any extra power, and all you'll do it soot up your rear bumper. Plus....is Malta not runing under Euro regs?
    • Hey Daniel, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting up for us at a really hard time I only knew SmoothLine through the forums, we never met as we are based in different states, but when he was most active on here he was quite a while back so not many of the current crowd might remember him. I am pretty sure he was active in the Queensland SQU club but that is defunct now too (times are changing and we are all getting older). Farewell SmoothLine!
    • Turns out depending on whether the car was equipped with TCS or not there are different signals coming to the dash, meaning there are different speedo clusters.  Wired in a speedo calibrator box from aliexpress and now works fine.
