Gearbox Capacity

Hey guys this might be a stupid question for those in the know, but im just wondering if the gearbox/diff can be overfilled like a engine can? Is the capacity around 3.8L or less? When my mate changed his g/box oil he just did it until it sort of came back out again does this make sense? Ive done a search on this topic but couldnt find anything.

Would like to know a definite answer before changing mine

fill till its level with filler hole

yep, fill it through the filler hole until it starts pissing out again. wait 30s for it to settle, add a bit more until it starts coming out and then you're done.

if you do something stupid like fill it through the gearstick hole then yes you can overfill it.

and obviously have car sitting on reasonably level ground - dont have one end of car of car stands or something stupid when you do it

Thanks for the reply guys i thought that was supposed to happen but i thought theres no hurt in asking. Oh and i will try to restrain myself from filling it from the gearstick hole then haha
