haha yeah 6 cars ended up comin through for a gander at what was going on with the rex, lucky they couldn't prove how fast he was going, but i think everyone can say they they shat a little when the cops were walking up an down checkin out the other cars and wat happened to the 33 4dr? coz cops were talkin to the owne then it look like he was raising the car up, dam it was low an loud, lucky they didnt hear it haha

yer cruise was great until i had to raise my car up. they said it was to low and they were gonna give me a yellow and then impound my car for some reason. but in fairness to them they let me raise it up on the spot(thank god for coilovers might get bags next time) which wasn't to bad and they were quite happy with it in 4WD spec and let me off. thank god they didn't check under the bonnet.

But yer great cruise and good turn out

had a great time at the cruise today..lots of gorgeous looking cars ard..just too bad the cops had to come and spoil the party..the tunnel run was just breathtaking!! really pity the wrx, damn unlucky to get caught, but all in all a very enjoyable first time cruise!! looking forward to the next big cruise!

Hey Julz, Great work with the cruise! Fun stuff with the cops at the second last meet... What was that wrx thinking when he came through? Great to meet some more people and see some more of the great skylines out there! As well as the other cars, and the stageas!!

Think I spotted you guys going through the intersection of Leach and Risley St, Booragoon around 11pm. I was at the lights in my other car, just finished watching Step Up 2. Would have joined in, but my fuel tank was right on zero at that point.

Nice pics Optic

Good cruise, great turn out!! I bailed early when the cops came, didnt want a yellow on my first cruise. Didnt have a good night afterwards, got pulled over by the cops later on that night, then one was suspicious with the directions on my passenger seat!! Dunno why I bailed, mine was the most boring and stock car there!! Maybe next time it'll look better. Good to meet a lot of you guys, and well done on the organisation!!

Haha yeah cops were good sports in the end I guess, kinda glad I have a stock looking car, just glad I didn't have to start it in front of them lol, straight through 3" ftl  Got pulled in to a RBT on the way home too, 200m after smashing limiter ::D I swear the FMIC is for show officer  And to top it all off, wheelspin through 1st through an intersection in front of a cop... damn I have good luck haha!

Good cruise though, Scarbs on a Friday night was always gonna be hectic but wasn't too bad in the end. Good map though, I must admit I looked at it at the start and thought "yep, another hotspot cruise" but turned out to be a really good fun

Some gorgeous looking cars there, mad props to the 34 GTR with the chameleon rims too, pure porn!

Cheers!

was a good cruise

really well written map

pitty about the cops

cheers

Thanks mate, First time ive organised cruz and the second one I've ever been on. Didnt expect soo many people would be at scarborough, made us park far from the food places. Cant wait to see more photos from the guys with the nice cameras. They buy nice equipment and we get to have nice photos, lucky to have them around cheers! Ah well cops have to do their job.

I think mosman beach was a nice stop ay..? maybe next time get all the cars in a diagonal formation or something for a good photo. One just with the cars and one with the cars and their owners standing near it or something.

^ bloody good idea julz...

was gonna go and intro myself when i saw you handing out maps but i didn't know you were 'mellow yellow' until later on and i was like nah... next time lol

girlfriend was getting cranky; pregnant = hungry, tired and exhausted which is also why we bailed early...

was an awesome turnout though, loved the stops except scabs was a bit unfortunate, just finished getting food... didn't even get to start eating and saw all of you guys leaving the carpark, thought we were gonna get left behind then got followed by at least 2 cop cars onto the freeway then one followed us from freeway to burswood... cops behind us in the tunnel = B O R I N G...

awesome cruise though, awesome

very happy with the map, keep that one for other cruises, its especially SOR friendly too, so i liked it.

Great run through the tunnel, Gate open, it was music to my ears.

Ate to much at Macca's though, feeling sick now lol.

    • You're not wrong, but more than a few times I've heard of people running into issues where their injector characterization isn't quite right and that approach works for that specific configuration but once they switch over to a new set they discover a whole bunch of stuff wasn't set up correctly. It's slightly more annoying to reverse engineer the OEM MAF transfer function but you already have the sensor wired up to the factory harness so keeping it around for a few weeks more while you figure out the tune is easy enough. I've seen GM also use a combination of both MAF + MAP in their ECUs before, MAF is for steady state and a calculation of the cylinder VE to correct the base VE table, then in transients it uses that calculated VE + raw MAP to determine cylinder filling somehow.
    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
