Hows it going guys, just wondering if i should buy a little run around and "work" on my car gradually.....like throughout this whole year? as it is unregistered already which will allow me to add parts as sooner or later as i can.

im leaning towards the adding parts and just using the run around to get to work and keep the line as low on k's as i can....its in the 87's and really would like to keep it as long as possible. saying that what would be the best we to upkeep the line. Like take the battery out drain the oil/petrol so not to rust as it will be sitting like this for a while if i go this way?

Also will it be easy/hard for me to get a blue slip if i do the following:

Intercooler

Splitfire Coils

Emanage Ultimate

In tank fuel pump

Split front/Dump

3 inch hi flow cat

As these are the mods i would be aiming for the year

not for those mods you don't need an extra car. Exhaust would take about a day at tops. Split fire coil would take all of 1 hour. Fuel pump probably a morning. Don't know about Emanage, might be a plug in, might not be. I had SAFC2 installed on my own in 3 hours.

intercooler, if you have an angle grinder, another 3-5 hours.

well i guess ill be ordering the exhaust and then getting it registered in a week or so.....thanks for the comment

dont let the car run out of rego if your planning on resurecting it a year l8r. unless you are going to go and get an engineers cert for the mods. and if u are going to have it engineered u might as well book the car for an emissions test at least a month b4 u are planning on re-registering it (because they usually have a months wait give or take for the car to be able to be seen by them).

ive been thru this and so have many others that have had their car run 3 months past rego expiry.

reasons for this:-

* mechanics want a completely stock car to go over when the car needs a blue slip. its kind of like having the car freshly imported and having to have it complianced. it needs to b completly stock.

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
