Our teammate has the IPRA lap record at Mallala in a 808 with a BP18T, thats right a 1.8ltr time is a 1:15!! we did a 1:18 in our IPRA car RA40 Celica with a 3SGTE and that was in our first year with a fresh car, this year looking for at least a 1:16!!

BTW you might need to look else where to get 50+ people out there!! Wont be 50 people on here wanting to hit up the track!!

yeah surely we should get at least 40 ppl interested in a track day, i have about 10 ppl keen on a track day, not all have skylines but we need someone with enough time and patience to organise it CORRECTLY, also we are going to need the funds up front to book the day, so if ppl cancel bad luck you lose your dough. during the week would be cheaper approx $3500 instead of weekend rates $5000 i'll put my hand up to help organise it but in going to need a couple of guys dedicated enough to help out. also we should book when it is a lot cooler, i can ring clem smith and find out some dates that the track is free, Also we would have to separate into two groups 4wd and rwd. this is just testing the water im not promising anything lets see how really keen ppl are! any volunteers????

Its all good and well people saying yea i want to come but when it comes to the crunch people always back out,

thats one thing that shits me about sau

Get a decent deposit upfront, and do what was said above, that way im sure a lot less people will much around.

There not hard to organise..I would think about asking other clubs to join you on this day if you cant find enough SAU members that want to hit up the track??

But what is it about SA peeps that they dont like Track days??

Is it cause its so new, never done it so dont want to try it?

Is it because you think your car isnt set up enough?

Is it because you think you will break it?

I had all this stuff running through my head and I have a GTR so the big myth that they die and the massive rebuild cost did loom over me...But seriously once you try it and you are hooked I know I am and its the best fun and great satisfaction to get your times down!!

I have seen people take anything out there and drive/race it around doesnt have to have the works done to it...

It is also a great way to find out what your car does actually need or want..I found out I need better suspension and still need to add sway bars, I dont need more power cause got loads and I dont even think my GTR is baffled but all I do is over fill the oil a litre and half and out onto the Track I go....

I would hope that most of you would at least give it a go once, get out onto the track and try it out..

P.s all this Track work does help you out on the road driving as you learn more about your car and you as a driver..

Far out Deluxe thats great!! :whistling:

What do supercars do around Mallala?

Might be an unrelated issue but right now, living in SA is like living in the sweaty jungles of middle Africa with no end in sight....good recipe for car melt down.

Be interesting to see if peeps responses and attitudes change if and when the colder weather arrives.

I guess it could be down to that..But I have done a Track day in Feb in about 30degree heat and my car was ok..as long as your not out there for too long and have a good few cool down laps, should be ok :D

But I do understand your point and I know what SA heat is like and I do prefer the dry heat to this humidity we get over here :whistling:

I would be be keen for an SAU trackday and i dont even have a skyline.

The only thing with having alot of ppl out there is for insurance purposes i am pretty sure it has to be a cams sanctioned event. Which would require a Cams affiliated club to organise it

Then you have got all the BS that goes with a cams event Eg. officials to organise groups on the day etc flaggies, ambo's, fireies and IDIOT CAMS COURSE CLERKS!

Perhaps if we cant get 50 due to restriction on having to run an actual 'event'. It would be worthwhile even if we can get a max of 20-25 out there for an untimed prac day it would only be 200ish for a hell of a lot of track time.

yeah even 20-25 on a weekday would be dooable, for heaps of track time and no cockhead officials. maybe we can do a time attack and whoever gets the fastest provable time gets bragging rights!!!!! mallala time attack!!!!! bring it on!!!

dude just a friendly warning Do Not Ever overfill your oil as it causes your pistons to slap the excess oil in the sump which can cause the rods to be stressed and will ultimately be the first cause of rod failure.

we either get someone to time (dodgy) or we get a couple of timers and share them when youre not on the track you should loan a timer to some one else? i have one i would loan to someone else when i wasnt on the track, or you can get one from summit racing for $299!

i think you will find the officials will be there regardless of when you go. I'm pretty sure they come with the track as they are a part of CAMS and they are who is covering the insurance which is most of what you pay

There is a new place that is like cams now called AASA and there licences are cheaper and more friendly...I would say put on a "Driver Training" Day at Mallala...Not offical timed and if its "driver training" can have passengers.. http://www.australianautosportalliance.com/aasa/

Maybe even look into getting a offical place to do this day for you?? http://www.sacentral.sa.gov.au/site/page.c...a=2&c=41932

This is NSW but so you can understand what I mean : http://www.ianluff.com.au/

I'm afriad you are wrong! It's fine and does no harm at all.

My awesome mechanic/boyfriend has assured me of this and all of the GTR's I know here that are not baffled do it also, even for a cruise sometimes depending on roads we are going on!

No oil near the pick up is the Killer!
