TokyoTaxi
Roy, Please don't take offence to this, but I usually don't tell anyone where my car is going to be unless I'm going to be there with it. I'm happy to share results afterwards Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21015-gt2530-not-impressed/page/6/#findComment-473114 Share on other sites
Cubes
I drove a RB25DET the other day. A Hell of a difference with how quickly the turbo spools. It felt like as soon as the motor saw just the slightest amount of boost it wanted to start accelerating where as my RB20 doesn't really feel any difference from 0psi to 5psi. Boost builds a lot quicker in the RB25DET also. BUT my RB20DET hits boost a lot harder giving the impression that it is accerating harder. i.e I pull out of a corner in second gun it by the time i am almost straight boost kicks and spins up the rears through second, where a the RB25DET goes when you put your foot down giving you the feeling that it is flattening out a little in the mid range. The R33's feel so damn big also. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21015-gt2530-not-impressed/page/6/#findComment-473118 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
depends what motor the RB25 is in but yeah, they got a bit more low down. I agree totally. Had 3 rb's now. 20/25/30. not a 26... yet Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21015-gt2530-not-impressed/page/6/#findComment-473179 Share on other sites

You would need to run a GT2340 which would be somewhere between the 2530 and the t3/4 that GCG do. However closer to the t3/4 hi amosite, which gtst were you refering too? RB20 or 25? i have an R33 and a genuine HKS installation manual for my HKS GT2530 with an application chart on the cover . So yes, to use your terminology, it is "designed" for the gtst, amongst many others, including the SR and GTR as you suggest. I would not say turbochargers are designed for individual cars, but for hp applications. the same HKS GT2530 in my friends R32 creates equal havoc on the street. Steve
Turbo Tits, do you have a HKS 2530 on your car? Would be interested to see a dyno printout as I unfortunately havent had the opportunity to go for a ride in a car with RB25/HKS2530. I have seen a few R33s from japan come out with this combo, must hit pretty hard, pretty early? DoughBoy
Steve, here's a dyno printout of a HKS 2530 on an RB25. Usual excuses, had boost problems, running too rich, my mother's cat died and upset my gearbox etc... Steve
Doughboy, that's a pretty awesome mid range, nice torque, but what happened to the top end? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21015-gt2530-not-impressed/page/6/#findComment-477665 Share on other sites
Cubes
Doughboy.. If the torque didn't drop off so much it would have been up on its way to around 230rwkw by the looks of it. So thats the stock ECU still? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21015-gt2530-not-impressed/page/6/#findComment-477678 Share on other sites
DoughBoy
Ok, the mods on the car for that run were : RB25, HKS 1.2mm gasket, HKS 2530, Trust 600x290x115 intercooler, Greddy intake plenum, GT-R 440cc injectors, HKS dump pipe, 3 inch no cat, 1 resonator exhaust, PowerFC, HKS EVC4. The problem was the EVC wasn't set up properly. It started off pumping up to 1.4bar then dropping off to .7 by the end. I would like to have done another power run with the EVC set up properly, but I've since sold the turbo and was too damn lazy to set up the EVC. I think at 1.4 bar boost it should have been ok. amosite
Looks like a 3rd gear run... Very nice mid range but what about top end? Was the tune in the Power FC done correctly?
