Just asking as there is a guy in the RB25DET turbo upgrade thread with 555cc nismo's doing 320rwkw on E85...

I'm now running Sard 850's and an iternal 044. We were finding with the 555's it would hit 100% (not good) with a bit of cool air around, and it was only holding 18-19 psi to redline.

I have since managed to get a decent actuator and its now holding 24psi to redline and the 850 injectors are seeing anywhere from 83-90% duty (Depending on how cool the air is),mind you this is all with the standard FPR so i can claw back some more injector duty with a Nismo FPR.

Yes. I tune differently to everyone else. Its called fuel shower. If its a 35deg day and your pushing 380rwkw at power cruise a little extra cooling wont go a stray.

Before I say anything - please don't take my questions as arguing, more looking to learn by these questions as I do/have done bits and pieces of tuning myself and would rather learn by not making mistakes but more gleaning knowledge from those more experienced etc and you have clearly done more tuning and on high profile cars :)

Isn't the extra cooling and safety margain what going for say mid 11s does as opposed to say ~12:1 or so for full power is for? Will the extra huge dowsing actually cool things that much more that it'd make a difference - and does it do much to help knock resistance? I know from experience with mine the difference between <11.5 and 12.0:1 equals lots of torque, can't imagine going >11.0!

If you're worried about high ambient temps, can't temperature compensation features be utilised to find a good inbetween for putting less fuel to suit the less dense air and more fuel for the fact that you want a bit extra cooling? Sorry for the OT, and if its trade secret don't mind me - I gotta try haha.

Yeah extra fuel is allways a good thing for a car thats going to be punished. More fuel also means you can push extra timing as well but many tuners will argue this. I prefer to run my own car rich, my mate who owned his own workshop has been around dyno's since he was 10 years old with his dad and he had many ideas which luckily he shared with me.

He tunes his customers cars the way he likes to tune them unless someone tells him to tune it otherwise, its funny when he calls a 12.0 on wot tune a "sydney tune" the we don't care if it blows up tune, i can build the customer a new engine anyway and make money off it tune.

My car has 374rwkw at the moment, 800nm of torque, (i did have 1083nm with a sydney tune once before though) I dont mind losing a bit of torque and power for the added extra fuel cooling which is going to be needed this weekend.

Will do when it gets dyno'd (probably in a week or two).

my cars are always tuned real rich like that, around flat 11, might rob a few kw but then i have never had an engine failure either.

My old girl is near 160,000kms and running a GT30R for a good 40,000k of those running 11.5:1 at richest (18psi boost) and still runs strong, last compression test was 5points varience from lowest to highest... some would say 11.5:1 gives a reasonable amount of headroom as it is but its definitely interesting how many ways there are to skin a cat haha.

OK guys been a while, new update.

The car has had a big fuel system upgrade which includes:

1000cc Rochester Injectors (all new injector plugs and wires)

Billet fuel rail

SX Fuel reg

Nismo lift pump

Twin 044s

Surge tank

Mesh fuel filter

Fuel lines are now braided with a few bigger hard lines.

Also had my old Profec B II fitted which was a huge improvement over the Haltech one.

Boost is now alot better but still tapers off a little.

Now who would of thought you could get this much power out of a GT3076???!!!!

Holy sh1tballs Dave...look at the bloody torque curve!!!...its still making 740NM at 7500rpm... did we port the head on that engine or is it STD ports?...yes that is "almost unbelieveable"

Is it possible that the boost dropping off is because the turbo is starting to run outta puff?

More likey exhaust gas pressure in the turbine housing. Unfortunately, turbine sizing is a trade off between response/spool and hp.

PJ is running this turbo on an SR and it is holding 25psi at 7400rpm - but he runs a T25/T28 HKS 1.12 ex housing vs NYTSKY's T3 Garrett .82.

I've no doubt there's still more in NYTSKY's setup if boost could be held - you can see the torque curve closely mimics the boost curve. If you can hold boost, torque will pull up and therefore hp at a given rpm. However, this maybe all that can be practically pushed through the .82 ex housing.

In any case its an awesome setup for a street car and no doubt more than a handfull for most of us. :)

I have seen higher numbers from them, but from more aggressive engine/boost/fuel setups and its hard to tell how dynos compare. 363rwkw on a Mainline is fair roaring it out, I'd expect this thing to be one of the more brutal "all around" RB25 setups anywhere.

PJ has the same tuner and on the same dyno is making 375rwks on 25psi and 721ft/lb of torque - E85. So very similar results on two different engines with the same tuner and dyno. Although NYTSKY's setup has a much broader power band.

In summary 3037/3076 and E85 = :)
