Mixed day today.

Took out another dyno comp at JEM.

427rwkw! We put on my HKS funnel and put a bag of ice on the plenum ;)

This definitely means i need a bigger intercooler, water-to-air im thinking.

Bad part was i got picked up by a red and blue on the way there. Now the car has to go to the DECC.

Ill either get it passed or if its too much stuff to get done i will de-rego the car and strip, cage it.

damn nice power figure dave. Unlucky with the canary mate but it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise too.

I'm just waiting for the day they pull me over so I can say. "Its stock officer" and then watch the looks on their faces. :3some:

my car will be deregistered that day too. ;)

at least you got the decency of being pulled over for it, i got a letter in the post telling me mine wasnt road worthy. though i am jumping through all the hoops to get it engineered rather than make it track only.

you will have to get it emissions tested before and there is a ~4-5 week delay before you can get in for testing (penrith test on monday, bottany on wednesday). if the engineer says the car is safe and it passes emissions testing it should be apples, but for a car with your mods expect 1500+ for the engineers + any changes that have to be made.

where did u get pulled, what suburb?

was it an rta vehicle or highway patrol?

nothing worse than getting ar5e raped!

this is why i should get an eng. certificate for my gtr...in the 90s i had a gemini with a 2ltr twin cam & got pulled up, simply gave him my report in the glove box & i was off on my way (the police copper was burning). i also kept my eng. report in the car when i had my dato 1600 with fj20t - also got pulled up & said to the officer "its legal" with the biggest grin on my face.

They knew the dyno day was on an were patrolling the area. Got picked up just before Ingleburn.

They should spend their time kicking in doors of drug dealers rather than waiting to pull over a few cars, but kicking in a few doors doesnt make them as nearly as much money than defecting a few cars.

There is no point really going to the DECC. Even if i pass, ill get picked up again eventually and if the mods are back on its a huge fine and the car will be taken.

Ill get it caged and start tracking it.

Oh and ill be at the next Friday session at WSID so come and watch me get booted

Dont be silly man, change your plates and get it engineered... Dont give up something you love for the sake of aus best organized gang..

As said above, engineers and pass emissions and you should be fine. Next time you get pulled show em a photocopy of your engineers report. As long as it is concise you will be fine.. Most of them dont know enough to think past the engineers report, and the RTA knows this.

when i bought my 1st big bike in 99, i bought an r1 off a guy who had a bad reputation & the number plates were very well known as i found out after the 1st week when i was riding to my mates house...i had 6 highway patrol cars on my tail for 10min, rode to my mates house & they all jumped out & surrounded me, until i took my helmet off they calmed down off & strongly suggested "change your plates otherwise you will be pulled up every time"

i thought i bought a hot bike...geez!

moral of the story, the new plate worked for 5yrs :D

The car sounded like an absolute animal on the dyno!

As discussed though Dave, I think you'll find it will go back to more than just the plates, I told you the way around it! See you Friday night :D

Oh and BTW Friday nights at WSID are for ANDRA licence holders if you don't already have a Super Street licence.

read this thread the other day from cover to cover, wow.

Spoke to Paul at Red R Racing today regarding an RB30 twin cam engine for my car. He certainly knows his stuff and also mentioned your car among many other monsters he has created. I cannot wait to get mine built now, will have to catch up with you next month when i move up to Sydney permantly.

    • GTSBoy on your suggestion on another thread I had a look at those injectors and ended up getting them because of the quality.  Got the expensive ones.
    • Hey guys been looking everywhere to try and find the correct gtr hood latch support part number but only found the first half and when I search with that number it sends me to an r34. The first part I found was 62515. If anyone could help me with the rest then I’d really appreciate it. Or if there’s some alternative hood latch support that would work even better cause I can’t find any for sale. (Searched on upgarage, partsouq, buyee, rhdjapan)
    • If you've only done the upper control arms on the rear, AND you have changed their length (by more than about 1mm) to set the camber you want, then you will definitely need/want to install traction arms also. Adjusting the camber arms on their own WILL introduce bump steer and make the car unpleasant to drive. Most owners have no idea that their car could behave infinitely better than what they put up with. I'm not entirely sure what the Stageas need, but I am thinking that unless you have massive front spring rates and pretty soft rear springs, you have waaaay too much rear bar. Oversteer city, in my estimation. Combined with possible excessive bump steer from maladjusted arms, that could be a recipe for nastiness. ATR43SS2 is not a highflow. It is an outright replacement turbo. It's a little bit bigger than the largest highflow profile that Tao does. Probably a solid 300rwkW turbo where the bigger highflows will be about 30-40rwkW less. Nevertheless, we're only talking about ~300 rwkW, which is well within the abilities of the stock ECu to run with a Nistune on board. I would do so without hesitation - and I will be doing so when I get my finger out and actually get the injectors and AFM installed. But, if you would prefer to drop a whole lot more money on the ECU side, then I suspect you're looking at Haltech. The Haltech fanbois here will all spout on about all the available engine protection you can have, that you can't have with the Nistune option. And they're right. But it doesn't really come for free either. You will spend more money on extra sensors and the like, plus the work to install them. If the engine was built and therefore represented a big investment to protect, then I'd say definitely do it. If you view the current (and forever into the future) shortage of replacement engines as something to prompt similar protection, then also, do it. If you see a destroyed RB25 as an opportunity to put in a Mercedes or other V12 (like I kinda do)... then your perception of the risk/reward might differ. These are good injectors. You can also get a "better" set of the same with more flow matching, for more $$. 1000cc is where you will want to be. You will need an R35 AFM and adapter tube if you want to stay with Nistuned stock ECU. Otherwise, if going Haltech, you can ignore. As for intercooler. Just about anything will do. You're only talking about ~300rwkW. Just put a big core in there. Be aware that return flows do add significant pressure drop and will cost power and will make the turbo work harder to achieve the same goals. If you can manage a proper crossflow, do it. I'm keeping my very good return flow because I'm only expecting to be in the ~250rwkW range, and will live with whatever outcome I get.
    • I have a heap that i have collected if you want some authentic ones still. Pm me if your interested!
