Honda Vs Nissan..

Recommended Posts

I cant see how it wouldnt be legal.They are still NA and injected....Very common to come by also...They came standard here in our corolla Seca SX and GTi....I drive an SX...hauls well once the revs are up, But the corollas are heavier than the sprinters...I am in NSW so I am not real sure how the VIC rules are...

every now and again I get an old grey haired chinese guy drive in my area with a bog stock, faded blue paint AE86..Now if only I could pull up at the lights next to him oneday.I would offer him $4K on the spot for it. Sprinters are getting snapped up like crazy, even in Japan...awesome little drifters

Good thing also is that Sprinters come standard with the 4age engine.Last of the 20 valves is still a 4 age....So same engine block, worse case scenario you could buy the head,ecu and throttle bodies etc and bolt it all onto the standard motor.This I would only do if its illegal for you to drive due to power weight ratio ruling..But I would just go the whole engine swap rather than this

From http://gls.arrivealive.vic.gov.au/pplates/...ehicles_ps.html

As a probationary driver, if you obtain your licence from 1 July 2007 onwards, you can't drive a vehicle with:

  • Eight or more cylinders;
  • A turbocharged or supercharged engine;
  • An engine that has been modified to improve its performance; and/or
  • One of the nominated high performance six cylinder vehicles which include BMW M and M3, Honda NSX, Nissan 350Z, Porsche (all models) and Mercedes Benz SLK350.

These restrictions do not include:

  • Diesel powered turbocharged or supercharged vehicles (without engine performance modifications);
  • Nominated vehicles with low powered turbocharged or supercharged engines including Suzuki Cappucino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 cylinder 698cc, Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible 4 cylinder 659cc;
  • All models of the Smart car produced by Mercedes Benz; and
  • Vehicles driven as a part of the driver’s employment and at the request of the employer.

engine changed to improve performance... itd rule the engine swap out for me wouldnt it?

I don't think you'll be able to drive a 4age powered ae86 because you can't do anything to your car which increases engine power output. No engineering is needed though because Japan got ae86's with 4age's.

B4 my R34 i had a VTI Accord which was dumped on its ass. i still miss that car. it wasn't fast but damn it was comfy to drive....... it never broke. i had 1 thing go wrong on it in 2 years and thats cos i shorted out the whole ignittion circuit. ps i hate to say it but Honda build quality is about 10x 1.03^89 better. but hey u need to figure do you wanna have a slow NA car and have every 1 say"why didn't you buy the turbo model" or dam your goes damn well for a little 2L.

Silvia.. hands down..

Best pick of the lot!..

Quite light.. better than an NA Skyline.. Plus PLENTY of money for mods left over!

dont buy an 86.. because poeple who have 86 tend to be wankers who think their Tsuchia or Takumi and end up writing it off

Na skylines are crap.. small brakes.. 4 stud.. open diff (I believe)

NA 300ZX's: It takes alot of money to build a good NA car, let alone even more when you have to buy everything twice cos its a V6

MR2's are not a bad buy.. you dont see too many of them around.. being different is really important for me (i know.. haha.. i drive a 32) and you can get them to be an awesome car to drive!

Thats my 2c

Get a Prelude VTiR... 2.2L VTEC approximately 100-105kw at the wheels standard give or take a few. Comfy cruiser of a car with great handling and descent poke.

FWD goes well with maccas trays :D

    • Great info @tidi0x Will definitely be handy for others and maybe me if I decide to keep the shit box H pattern.
    • Bumping this up one last time.... I wanted to follow up on the clutch slave issue. I realized that what the issue comes down to is the pocket is flat milled, and the cylinder does not want rest flat. So in order to mount it correctly you will need to make a spacer for the fingers so the cylinder is floating. I took two plates of aluminum, drilled some holes and was good. I did still need to make the relief cuts in the bell housing, as even with the spacer the bleed section still interferes. The OE bell housing the mounting holes are raised from the housing.
    • If the event in USA goes ahead will be interesting as it seems the rules will get more cars over here. Apparently the track is laguna seca too. Yeah s15, if I get a the lower dash trims, centre console and change front cross member to standard LCA position will fit clubsprint. See how rules are as i would rather do complete widebody than a bolt on flare to run the 295 with proper clearance.
    • If the car is legal height I can't see it being an issue. Found a thread on reddit that might offer some insight. I got a ticket from a copper in QLD for my S15 being too low. They had this wheel thing on a stick that they put under the car and it hit my exhaust. Anyhow went to an exhaust shop to get the exhaust tucked up/hung a little higher and I wound the coilovers up a smidge. Don't think I even had to go back to the police station unlike when I got defected for having a carbon bonnet when I brought the S15 from the ACT to QLD and had to replace it and then rock up at a police station and have a yougish female officer who knew nothing about cars confirm that I had changed bonnets. Should have just painted the carbon bonnet yellow to match the rest of the car lol
    • Id like to race in the US i think alot of those track would suit me For the s15? Youd be stuck between club sprint and the new Open Am wouldnt you depending on how much interior you have left in
