Hi guys,

After waiting ever so patiently, and going thourgh the paypal dispute process, Nengun FINALLY sent my turbo.

Now, I've read on many topics that the kit doesn't come with a gasket for in between the turbo and the dump.

Now, I know GTST25 i think it was who posted that you should use coppermix sealant.

Also, I do remember Sly33 made a copper wire to go around the grove and used that as a sealant.

However, I do recall in a thread somewhere (I forgot who wrote it) that someone called HKS Japan and they informed him that you do NOT need a gasket, could this be true?

Because after all, the gasket probably costs around $10, probably less, so why wouldn't they include it? Maybe you don't need one?

I tried contacting HKS USA without success, bloody voicemail thing keeps coming up.

Has asnyone with a HKS GT2835 Pro S not used a gasket?

Cheers?>

One guy on this forum - Michael user name I think didn't use a gasket. I used ultra copper and it's been fine for two years.

Good luck with the install and keep us posted - look into using a die grinder on the turbine housing inlet as it's not well matched to the exhust manifold. I didn't but next time it's in bits I will.

Cheers

Will it make a difference in terms of performance if you don't grind it you think (ie in terms of flow since it doesn't match perfectly)?

Furthermore, what's ultra copper? DO you have a link to it so I can see where I can get it from?

DO you think it is possible just to buy thin gasket material and cut it out to the shap of the dump flange?

Wow, I can't believe your sealant held up for 2 years, thats good news.

Im using no gasket on my hks 3037 pro s turbo and hks dump, it is exactly the same as the 2835 pro s dump, and i havent had any exhaust leaks around that area, you could use a liquid gasket maker if your a bit parranoid about it,but thats a bit messy, anyway mine is fine.

Don't worry too much about the sealant issue - as I said there's a guy on here that's used nothing. It won't hurt to die grind out the housing to match the manifold to turbine gasket - Dale FZ1 just installed a hks turbine housing on his car and did it. It's just easy to do while it's all in bits. Also while it's apart I'd advise pulling off the exhaust manifold and doing all your studs - a sh@t of a job but who knows you might get it all together only for a week and hey presto exhaust leak.

In saying all this I didn't do my studs or grind out the housing as I was in a rush and it's a pretty quick car. Turbo kit install took a day.

Cheers

Yeah I might just use that Ulta Copper sealant.

I'm one paranoid F#$K, I wont be able to sleep knowing that it might be leaking pressure, haha.

I am not installing the turbo myself, I'm paying a shop to install the turbo, my nismo 555 injectors and Z32 all for $800. Is this a good price?

Cheers

The housing design on the hks pro s housings are designed to be gasketless in there nature as in flat surface matching to dump, but as said you can use the sealant stuff on there as well. to install turbo injectors and z32 800 could be about right dependant on mechanic charges, but its allways fun to try and do it yourself, its the only way to learn :P esp if you have to remove it for any odd nature in the near future.

Also curious with this grinding out the manifold flange to match the housing? If anyone gets the change measure the actual length width of mani vs housing just curious on how much in terms of area is actually different.

Cheers

hey :P

I am the one who had my mate call HKS in japan for me. Hks sent me 2 gasket which where both the wrong ones and then in the end they finally understood what we were after and said the Turbo doesn't need a gasket. i have been running mine now for 2years without a gasket and no problem at all (251rwkw @ 16psi)

If you look at the rear housing of the turbo you can see it has like a trench, and my understand this makes like a vaccum seal between the rear housing of the turbo and the dump pipe

If the Turbo did require a gasket, HKS would have supplied on accordingly.

Nonetheless, I might just put a little bit of ultra copper on it as I know metal to metal doesn't provide a great sealing.

Thanks for all the repsones boys, you've been very helpful.
