hey guys, ive just put a new clutch and gearbox in my s1 r33. and there was a bad clunknig sound so i thought ill change the diff.

the diff was also stuffed but there is still a clunking sound.

Could it be the actual gearbox???

My car is a s1 and ive put a s2 gb in does this matter??

Do i need a s2 flywheel or something like that, someone please help. ive just spent a shitload on my car and its still not performing the way it should be.

cheers

Michael

ive cheked everything.

the noise happens when i let go of the clutch during a gear change. so when i change from 1st to 2nd clunk. also when i take off there is a clunk.

if the mechanic put the wrong type of clutch in would this happen??

Listen for where the sound is coming from.

When driving -

If from just behind front seats, it's the propshaft (main driveshaft) hanger bearing.

If from just behind gearstick, it's the rear gearbox mount. Also gearstick will move

from side to side more than usual.

If from diffhead it's the back lash inside the diffhead which is normal.

It happens when backing off throttle after accelerating quickly.

Although I have been told that a diffhead can get excessive backlash.
