Variable valve timing..

Any gurus here can tell me a few things about the variable intake cam..

Such as, what rpm is the solenoid turned on, is it pulsed or simply on/off and is the timing adjusted on rpm only or rpm/load...

The only info I could find on this was in the Z32 300ZX manual....according to that it isn't simply rpm related, but the ECU takes the input from a number of engine sensors and adjusts the VCT accordingly....

i've got vct in my s14 and it works but they have known problem for rooting up, wierd noises which mine does...

ok, for those that are interersted, i done some tests today, cam solenoid is powered from 1200 rpm to 5000rpm, providing load/map pressure is 50 kpa or more absolute... which means it only has to be under slight load. Just revving the engine wont wont activate it at all.
