39 Degree Day Today - How Were Your Water Temps?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just a quick question for you all who were driving around in today's sweltering heat...what were your car's water temps while sitting in traffic?

My car hit 95 degrees sitting in traffic with the a/c on...which was rather worrying...whereas the previous day while at a track day at Sandown fanging away it only hit a maximum of 90 degrees...

At Sandown you had airflow flowing through your radiator etc... Sitting in traffic you have no airflow :(

Cheers mate...i know that...my temps on the track were good sitting around the 82-87 mark all day and that was because of the airflow at those speeds...

My concern here is how high my water temps climbed while sitting in traffic...and thats with a thermostat that works...new rad cap and a 40mm alloy radiator...

Well you need airflow, do you still have your thermo fan? Maybe you could fit a higher flow fan if you are concerned.

Having said that 95deg isn't a temp to stress about when there is a reason for it (sitting in traffic) and it only happens rarely on a very hot day in traffic.

I hit 80 degrees with air con on in slower traffic and 70 degrees in places with more airflow, I do have problems with the fan so I was taking it *very* easy on the car.

i was hitting 90~ degrees with AC on sitting in traffic.

Whilst driving with ac on it sits at about 88degrees

AC off my car was sitting on around 82degrees

Im suspecting the AC with r134a gas conversion might be creating more heat in my car
