Boosted Zed
Roy going around in circles is far from new, but this form of racing in this format and event is new. It appeals to many as not many want the big jump to go to the next level bumping guards in improved production or similar racing It also takes a lot of commitment and money, then there are Super sprints which are ok but too many cars and no trophies or prize money or spectators and the main thing is any bob with any car can enter. Then there is drifting which is not for everyone and drags and well, not much of a challenge. This event has similarities to other forms of motorsport with instant result and knock outs similar to drag and drift. It should make a great spectators sport with some serious road and track cars mainly Japanese. Roy
Yeh, i appreciated the subtle differences. Which is why this event will be great as it supplements the type of sprint events that already exist. If i wasnt OS i would 100% be in. In fact i may still make an appearance as i may be putting off my holiday because of family reasons, which may see me in Sydney as well What sort of circus would it be without the clown taking on the powers to be with an RB20 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/10/#findComment-3738478 Share on other sites

Where are you and how long? You would definitely win the RB20 class. I am confident it will be a well run professional event. It will be a relatively new event and can only get better, and it is what we all make of it and promote and get behind it. Beer Baron
The new GTR's come with Bridgestone RE070A's from the factory I believe. Mark and Russ's R35 will be on the factory dunlops. The bridgestones are a dealer option (and come on the premium too) and by all accounts not as good on track as the dunlops. I just checked Oran Park site and they actually have practice days list for GP. Tuesday April 1st, not far away and earlier than I would like but no other dates although sometimes they have days not on their site. Duncan
Adz....yoko a048r would be legal for open class...but you would be on track for dead last. put some decent semi slicks on there instead (DZ03G or re55s). or even better if you can find some really soft ones considering this is 1 lap at a time. Roy...apart from the interest and promotion, I can't see the difference to any number of CAMS supersprints....but regardless it should be a great spectacle and I'll be there for sure Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/10/#findComment-3740345 Share on other sites
Adz
Mate if you can find me a good 315 ill do it but for now yoko's are the only ones i can use. For the record last is not an option!!! Stupid Toyota
Time to stir the pot me thinks In the open class it states- All vehicles must retain their original chassis/body. If the chassis/body has been modified in any way, all modifications must be submitted for approval to the Superlap engineer. What is defined as a modification of the original body? - cut out oem front doors? - frp/carbon panels? - lexan windows? - flares? - tubbed guards? - firewall/trans tunnel mods? - rear doors removed and replaced with frp silhouettes - engine placement alterations? I ask only because these are plausible allowances within the above statement plus of course they are alterations Im undertaking for my current car and it will all be done to the original chassis/body with no spaceframe utilisation. Duncan
indeed - as I said in an earlier thread hopefully these will be aligned with the full body sports sedans regs - ie floorpan can't be modified (which makes your tubbed guards a problem) but everything else would be OK. We are building our new GTR to sports sedan and if we had to choose between superlap and racing due to regs we would of course choose racing but what sort of race car would have rear doors anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/10/#findComment-3741680 Share on other sites

Also my car isnt really a sports sedan. Its just a Toyota However I was looking to keep it relatively in line with SS regs in case I get And a family oriented race car has four doors so you can fit the kids in whilst lapping lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/10/#findComment-3741953 Share on other sites

JAGR33
if you want to try and do a practice day before hand you can share my loaner mate. for sure on some good street rubber like maybe AD07s or the RE01Rs you would be up the pointy end of street class, but you may find on the semis you are still up the pointy end in open class too. Yeah mate I'd be in for that!!! S13 FTW!!! I'd prefer a weekend practice day, let me know if anything comes up... Looks like the Federal 595RS will be accepted in clubman, anyone had any experiences with them???
