Roy
Yeah, they look it, and Troy's happy with his. They were also very helpful in the email I sent Yeh, if you are in Vic then Brown Davis are hard to go by. Very experiences, very professional and can explain where the cost is in the cages so can help you tailor your cage to best suit your dollars. Normally for motorsport you need to have a high standard to enter events if there is a driving standard involved. At any level of sport you have different levels of skill and this event should be about putting on a show to the public and showing them the full potential of these motor vehicles. A number of workshops that I know of do not have vehicles eligable for open class and were wanting to run in the clubsprint class. They have drivers for there cars so that they can show off there products to the public and be as competitive as they possibly can. Why should we limit the driving standards!!!!! I am trying not to swear. It always interesting to read the perspective and views of others. What you see makes complete sense, i suppose my perspective is skewed by my own requirements and wish to be competitive. I am all for maximising driving standards, but how do the owners of the cars improve if they dont get seat time and learn how to drive their own cars? Especially in the Clubsprint class i think its important that the owners drive the cars. What you say about putting on a good show? Interesting question. To me its about the competitors making this event first and formost. They are the ones handing over the cash and need to enjoy the event. I think spectators will love the spectacle no matter what. Its not door to door racing so they will enjoy the spectacle of the diverse range of cars about their circulating, making noise and locking tyres...and laugh at hacks like me binning it trying to keep up with a little 4 cylinder Lotus with only one diff If you turn the Clubsprint class into a class where ppl are handing over wads of cash to a workshop to build a weapon of car to be steered by a gun driver...then defeats the purpose of the class, they should just enter it in the open class. Mind you i am sure the organisers have a view of what each class shoudl be, i am only guessing. It should be the feeder class that as ppl learn to love this form of motorsport, continue the build on the car and graduate to the open class. Otherwise after the initial hype and interest subsides then numbers could struggle?!?!?!? As we all know this stuff isnt cheap and you need a long term approach to make sure that you have the club guys as well as the more serious club guys and workshops etc You will never be able to keep everyone happy, i know if i make the event it will be for the fun of just driving Oran Park again. But it is always nice to be somewhere near the pointy end, or at least feel as though its within reach if you keep working hard at it. Superlap Australia
Sweet, at least we have sorted the so called 'PRO' driver thing out.Normally for motorsport you need to have a high standard to enter events if there is a driving standard involved. I have never been paid so I am entering in both classes At any level of sport you have different levels of skill and this event should be about putting on a show to the public and showing them the full potential of these motor vehicles. A number of workshops that I know of do not have vehicles eligable for open class and were wanting to run in the clubsprint class. They have drivers for there cars so that they can show off there products to the public and be as competitive as they possibly can. Why should we limit the driving standards!!!!! I am trying not to swear. Anyhow, what chance do I have......both of the cars that I am driving only have 4 cylinders and one diff!! John you are a paid professional. As far as I am concerned you are not allowed to drive in Clubsprint Class. It would not be fair to the other drivers to let you drive a car for someone. You have to much of an advantage. Yes you have not been paid to drive in a competetive event but you are paid to teach people advanced driving. This along with me knowing how good of a driver you are puts you out of Clubsprint Class. The Rules & Regulations will not be completely finalised untill the Official entry form is gfiven to us by cams as they have more rules they want to add in. We also are still tweaking our own rules but at this point you will not be able to drive in Clubsprint Class. Superlap Australia
At this point in time no he would not be allowed to drive. No matter how good or bad the vehicle having a driver of his calibre behind the wheel is a massive advantage over most of the other people entering the Class. Clubsprint Class is designed for the people who want to go out and have some fun and some friendly competition and everybody likes to have the idea in there head that they have a chance at being at the top. With someone like john driving a car in that class that idea disappears especially considering the car he would have been driving so long as it was reliable on the day with John behind the wheel would wipe the floor with majority of the class. Boosted Zed
Maybe for those that have enter the word "competitor" sould be on the back of there shirts abit like Autosalon Shirts are the go to help promote the event. If made long sleave like other companies have done in the past, with signage and sponsors. Then competitors not owning or wearing race suit can have opiton of wearing the SUPERLAP shirt, made out of cotton obviously. The drifter guys had a shirt like this made up I think and I have one form a track day way back with sponsors etc. Bozzo could have a 1 to 2 second handicap, all good. Messy and only joking. He is very good though and makes me look silly. N1GTR
I vote for a sticker to be issued to all competitors in addition to the shirts (hey we all want our $450 worth right?), something along the lines of "SUPERLAP TIME ATTACK" or even "SUPERLAP TIME ATTACK COMPETITOR" For every event entered you add another stroke until 5, then use a strikethrough for the 5th, then start again, eg: EDIT: Start at the bottom and work your way up - sorry Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/14/#findComment-3750354 Share on other sites
