That's alright Paul, you can be 'head engineer' in my pit crew!!! :P

On a serious note it would be interesting to see how twoogle would go with the right brakes/tyres/suspension...

And now that Bozman has been excluded from the clubman class its in the bag!!!!

got plenty of "sus" under her...its the tyre and brake budget that i lack...anyone got anything laying around that i could "borrow"?

Head engineer...his main job is to keep the beer and seafood cold isn't it?

I can not believe what I am reading!!! What difference should it make if a driver has more experience?

Why is it different if Bozzy has been in the game for more than the average punter who might want to enter this event in any class?

Seriously... are they going to stop my kid for playing under 6's soccer because he is better than the other kids? I don’t think so and if they did, there is not a court in the country that wouldn’t call that blatant discrimination!

It makes no sense whatsoever.

Motorsport is not just about the cars and to motorsport purists; it’s really about how well they are driven. You can not say to someone "you can’t play you're to good"

Never before in my life have I seen limitations on driver’s ability; this will be talked about for a long time I can tell you now. I have been following this and looking at the webpage and it seems that the rules are being changed to suit a few people. That’s just going to totally loose the credibility this event deserves in my opinion.

If people are worried about competing against someone with experience, they shouldn’t be driving there car on a racetrack! On the other hand if you are serious about your ability as a driver on a racetrack, having a measuring stick to aim for by looking at those with more experience would be a great way to look at it.

Rant over... I feel better now.

There isn't really a category for Joe Schmo (read: Merli), who has a dedicated fun car (stripped interior and roll cage and good suspension, but otherwise mild modifications) :D

I can't really compete with Mark Berry or the BMS boys :action-smiley-069::D

Looks like I'll be photographing the day. I looked around, but I couldn't find any Media Accreditation. How do I get my hands on a media pass?

In all seriousness, if i supply Tein RAs and some 355mm F40 Brembos and Brembo rears...do i get to share the steer? Im happy to donate about 5ks worth of parts if gets me a steer :action-smiley-069:

might be able to work something out Troy...our car is no dedicated "drag car" and id like to prove a point. How do we "share" the drive?

time to dig the rear trims and back seat out of mothballs...hehe

I tend to agree. Personally anyone should be welcome to drive their own cars. My only concern is when ppl in the Clubsprint series start handing their keys over to a hired gun and you have a single driver filling 4 of the top 10 positions in different cars. But any person should be able to enter, just not cross enter.

I hope the Clubsprint guy's get out there and practice especially if the have not done GP before . It is a great track that requires a fair bit of commitment.

What sort of times are the Clubsprint Car's going to do on street tyres ?

If low teens is the benchmark for open class then I'm assuming maybe 1:20 flat???

Dunno, anyone with experience of this track have any idea??

Penno, Bozman???

I know a few guys who have done mid 20's in street tyres in SAU NSW

get some better tyres like the 595rs' and the rt615's and you could see some dipping lower

I think my best is between 1:25 and 1:30 on street tyres

Roy good point about handing over your keys, ok for open class as I dont have a key just a button to start and button to go for the straights. I say bring on the sallary cap. With the road class big power might be a problem even for gtr's as slippery slippery, wheel spin. Bigger tyre the better for road class.

i hope there arent too many rules or i wont know what class i fit in not even sure what tyres the r35 has on it, as far as rating goes?!! :)

lol, your tyres are ok. they are the dunlops. :) SP Sport 600 or some such.

I want to know why there is a SuperLap TimeAttack prior to Superlap Timeattack 1... Does Steve-o suffer from premature postulation?

lol oops

Ive spoken to nathan about this, as long as the first event goes well he's going to try and have that class (weekend fun car, talentless drivers: me included) in the next one

    • We just disconnected the vacuum line if I remember correctly, booster is still there. Is there a rebuild solution for the booster or a different adapter that will work for GTR chassis?
    • Yeah 4wd (boosted) has a recess in the firewall for the booster, and 2wd is flat - the example in the link shows the flat surface. When you deleted the booster, did you just attach the factory slave cylinder directly to the recess in the firewall with no adaption?
    • Yes, but no. You need to keep the mating surfaces bare (ie the flat faces where the caliper and upright pads touch the dogbone) and also the internal threads will remain bare (unless there are no internal threads - do they use nuts on all the bolts?). So you can slow down obvious external corrosion, but not all of it. Anodising would be required to provide decent protection to the alloy, but I'm not actually sure if you should anodise something that is all about the strength. Anodising does reduce strength significantly. Like, up to 50% on some alloys for high thickness coating.
    • Thanks   does painting on aluminium work or stop them from corroding?
    • 'Sgot nothing to do with them being Japanese. The climate in the north of Japan has similarities to the UK - the cars are made in the knowledge that they have snow and salt, and they rot there. Cars made in the US rot like buggery in the US. British cars have always rotted regardless of the weather. They will rot indoors in a climate controlled bubble! The brackets are not unsafe yet, but they will get that way. They may well corrode where the bolt threads are in contact and the bolts could just jump out without warning.
