45.8 is super fast. What are you guy's going to do with more track time. Might see if I can bring the GT2 or the 'Black' CLK AMG out for a blast on thursday!! Should be interesting as Loftys car is good for low 46's with the restrictors in it and full IPRA weight.

Even with the rain Saturday did not end up being to bad. Gave Mark & Russ plenty of time on the track to themselves to get to know the lines. Considering it was their first ever time at OP it will be very interesting to see what happens as they get more track time there.

Was good to meet everyone who was there ( Steve, Chris, Wizard & Wayne ) Hopefully cant wait to see you guys out on track. However I think Wizard has an upper hand after speaking with him he has plenty of exp at OP. I hopefully will be making my way out their on thursday once again to help the boys and see what they can do time wise on the full circuit.

I'll be there thursday to give JP a hand with the slot car (aka the Boat)

when he puts Russ and Mark in there places (his words not mine) lol.

all the midnight oil better pay off

Good to meet everyone on saturday and will catch up again on thursday

cheers Ron

oooooh, the big show down eh? who's side am I on? Johnny is a mate, but so is mark and russ, plus they have the mighty GTR where as johnny drives some kind of half arsed convertible 'targa roof' thing.

It will be close. Johnny has heaps more OP experience and a pretty well sorted sled. Mark and Russ are both very handy too but with no oran experience they will need a few laps to get up to speed. having said that Mark is a bloody quick learner and not afraid to go at it so I predict Mark will be .5 seconds quicker by the end of the day. sorry johhny. hehe.

actually I reckon you should put your cash on me in the silvia. I might be able to sort some nice second hand semis before thursday and I reckon if I just weld the gate shut I should be able to run about 11ty pounds of boost which should negate john's "push to pass" advantage, plus I've done heaps of oran park laps on my playstation which means I'll know all the tricks better than mark or russ.

so can someone put up a sheep station for this?

Looks as though I will be out at oran later in the afternoon on thursday to have a play in the GT2 and the AMG. I will be at Wakey with them on wednesday and maybe Eastern creek as well.

Will be using oran at the end of the day on thursday to do 400m times.

So yes, I am trying to do all 3 tracks in two days with 2 hot cars...life is hard sometimes

haha!! hey bozman that sounds like the life!!! bloody hell

will be good to get down there and get on the full track! can't wait.

ron , tell johnny he'd better weld a front diff in there if he expects to beat a gtr!

but give us a few laps practice first ! like about a hundred.

Yes it is the 'BLACK' CLK just like the F1 pace car. This is the only one in the country at the moment. Australia is getting a limited number of 50!!!

It is currently on a truck on its way from Melbourne. It will be in Sydney in the morning and I will have it by lunch :D

hehe, if johnny whinges about not having a front diff one more time I'll ram one up his clacker!!

we have already have a GTR owners excuse book thanks to many unkind individuals not accepting our 'reasons' for failure, I think we need a john penlington, 300ZX drivers excuse book now. I'll kick things off:

1. i don't have a front diff.

2. i don't have fancy tyres.

3. push to pass button fell off. (from constant use).

4. I couldn't get my targa roof closed.

5. I forgot to put in the bonnet pins.

6. I don't have a front diff.

7. i'm just a little battler, not like all those guys with a decent budget and a workshop of their own

8. A hairdresser called Cecil mistook my car for his and took off in it.

9. I slipped on rocks dragged onto the track by fatz.

10. I don't have a front diff.

11. I had a nail appointment that I just couldn't break

12. I slipped on a GTR's oil.

13. I couldn't make it as desperate houswives was on telly.

14. Beer Baron put me off with all his trash talking.

That's a solid start. :)

    • Everyone is too used to learning from places like HPA "how to tune" and what to expect at what point, rather than being able to see "The computer says I'm in cell with Row = 8, column =4, and I can see my fuel is lean, so lets add more" Everyone wants "real units", which helps for someone picking it up for the first time and seeing how bad the tune is if they're not used to touching it.   However, I think for most of us who want to play with it, you're 100% right, we're only needing to learn about it for OUR CAR. Which makes it great, and we don't need to care what the real values are, we just need to know which cell it is, that's causing the lean or rich point, or that we want more ignition timing or less. But again, everyone wants everything super you beaut and nearly self tuning, with VE maps, and a billion compensations...   Though then there's me over here when I'm doing reverse engineering work just reading data in hex format that most people couldn't work anything out from. Yet I can see what's going on.
    • Um. No. Since Matt introduced the TIM it has become a lot easier to deal with the consequences of changing K for AFM and injector swaps. Then, tuning is a f**king doddle. No-one needs to know or care how many grams of air are flowing or any other bullshit. Need more fuel in a cell? Add more fuel. Need more timing in a cell. Add more timing. Need to adjust any of the other tables for warm up and so on? No harder than anything else. Sure - it's not an ECU system for starting from scratch on an arbitrary engine. But then.....it was never supposed to be, not recommended for, and almost never used that way. So.... On your engine, in particular, Nistune/Nissan OEM is about as sophisticated and difficult as banging 2 rocks together. Those ECUs are primitive and simple. There is nothing difficult there. I learnt Nistune from scratch, created new maps with extended axes, interpolated/extrapolated the original maps onto them and tuned my RB20 (basically the same ECU as your 26 ECU) all by myself, more than 20 years ago. And that was long before even TIM.
