I think Hi Octane are exaclty or closely following the rules of Japan and England etc?

Well no because don't hey normally make it so that JDM cars are only eligable? I'd personally hate that to become the case here and I'd like to see someone enter next time in some Aussie muscle or something but really the rules have already banned Porsches - but what is to stop say someone turning up in a Radical SR3?

Or as another interesting one - what about if Darran Hossack rocked on up in this? It holds the OUTRIGHT lap record at Sandown....

As a different topic for debate - I'm REALLY suprised no one has had a whinge about making rules requiring cars to run at least OEM manufacturer engines (i.e. Nissans must run a Nissan Engine - etc). What is to stop some of the crazy light weight kit cars coming in and just making a mockery of this event?

(I personally don't care but I could see some of the supporting workshops getting upset if this isn't watched surely?)

SHHHH You're ruining my plans to enter a 2JZ-GTE PRB :(

I would also love to know when the next one is, I missed out on this one and have been kicking myself ever since...

Workshop wars in here stop now. The only person anyone can bag shit out of in here is Brett Middleton because he's obviously a tosser - but the next one who does it to someone else will be delt with.

Lets just stick to discussing the event and the future of it as a sport here.

14.1 Category 1 Open Class

14.1.1 Vehicles

All Vehicles must be available for purchase from a major manufacturer

currently/previously as a factory OEM vehicle. No Open Wheel vehicles, Clubman-style

or kit cars allowed.

No rear engine 6 cylinder or above vehicles are allowed in the Open Class.

All driveline types are allowed. (4WD, FWD and RWD)

There's also no tube frame vehicles (like sport sedans) allowed.

I don't see a problem with engine swaps from any manufacturer. I thought the battle between the lightweight Lotii, the heavy hitting GTRs and the in-between EVOs keeping them honest was great.

I think the rules were pretty good. I'd like to see semis in Clubman class though. It was basically an Evo-fest at the top of Clubman. They have a big advantage anytime there is low grip conditions. Semis would have evened that up a bit for the 2wd vehicles in Clubman, although I think that would have made John faster in his Clubman vehicle than the Open car he drove! :(

Correct me if i wrong but i have not seen Hossack Audi up close but the new sport sedan rule was you can run a AWD car as long as it has the factory chassie not space frame, thats why the GTR is now running as a sports sedan?

There are alot of very quick Sports Sedans out there that could enter not all of them are space frame cars.

ah yeah, that's right too. in that case if he chucks on a set of semi slicks, why not have it at Superlap? They allow unlimited suspension mods and lightweight panels and glass. Would be another interesting car in the line-up

Results are here and for those wanting trophies, get a rotory, you can go backwards up the pit lane on your mobile phone, do the biggest smoke show on record, do a lazy 1 min 43.34 and still win. Can't complain about that.

Check out Mohomad winner in his class in his RX7.

Superlap Winners

Natsoft Times. Down the bottm last at 87 position.

I think you will find that the Series 4 RX7 was the rotary class winner.

Not according to Superlap Website, or maybe error. I see Bill Nabin did a 1 21.37 in rotory something.

Says on the site.

Fastest Rotary – Mohammed Khan – RX-7

correct - 4wd sports sedans are allowed as long as they retain the original floorpan (ie not tube frame). The BSM car is already log booked as such, and Russ, myself and another person on here are building sports sedans GTRs at the moment.

fc rx7, it also broke towards the end of the day. Funnily enough within about half an hour of the first rx7 dying

Dont get me started on Mazsport! They are the reason no workshop touches my car, but also the reason i'm fairly handy with a set of spanners these days so i suppose i can let go of my 10 year grudge....

The biggest problem for most sports sedans is tyres. My old Capri would fit in nicely (non space frame) but it would eat R spec tyres like they were going out of fashion. Same goes for my Radical ,,,190/535/13 fronts and 230/570/13 rears might be hard to get (never bothered looking),,,the Radical SR3's runs similar diametres but in 15's which would also be just as hard. Three quick laps and a new set of rears please.

Can you actually imagine for one moment,,,me with a truck load of tyres,,,putting Frosty in my car,,,Bye,,,Bye Lotus,,,Bye Bye the whole field.

I think the "R" spec rule is a great one because it stops a lot of the super quick race cars from entering. Now an ex-BTCC car would be very interesting of which there are a few floating around for sale.

Group hugs please people,,,No more slinging shit at each other,,,or Neil the Nazi will take control. I haven't banned anybody in years but beleive me I will.

Oh and I spoke to Mr Queen St today,,,took the piss out of the poor bugger big time. I might have to drive his car next time and do the poor rotary proud.

Neil.

Yep good point and good point. Supporting workshops getting upset about engine swaps or slagging?

I am on long term project of putting a VQ38 in my car, which is Nissan 350 zed motor pumped with Darton sleave kit and 100mm pistons, so a very square revy motor, and about a hundred kg lighter.

Will the VQ38 be entering the boats engine bay before the dawn of the new millenium johnny? :P
