Seeing as the engine holds around 12L of oil I hardly think that 2-300ml is a problem and as stated this is never ususally an issue. On this occasion the owner of the car simply sightly overfilled the dry sump tank.

Yes the set up in the other car is a bit neater but in no way does that make this an average set up.

Just for your information this car came 8th outright against a feild that is considered to be the best of the best in Australia. All the cars that where quicker were either race teams that race in the improved production catagory every other weekend or were built by professional workshops and are heavily sponsored cars all with drivers with considerably more on track experiance. In comparrison this car was built in my shed in my backyard and I am by no means a professional and dont even work in the automative industry so I would regard this as a extremely good effort and an achievment I am quite proud of. :D

Just a word of advise I would keep the negitive comments and opinion to yourself if you have nothing constructive to say. Especially seing as you only just joined the forum and in your first post you commence to bag someones efforts. And by your own admission you have no experiance building race cars. I would be surprised if you even knew how a dry sump set up functioned. Maybe once you have achieved somethind of any noteriaty you will be in a position to pass judgment as it is all to easy to be a keyboard warrior.

I wouldn't even bother replying to this bloke Matt. Anyone on here who knows anything about nicely built and super quick cars would know yours is well up the top of the tree mate. I was amazingly impressed with your car, and being that you built it yourself makes it even cooler. I mean f**k, it is super reliable and bullshit fast. It looks great too. I personally didn't witness any oil trail and I can also back-up the fact that it doesn't breathe a single drop of oil out of the cam covers (or anywhere else for that matter). Anyone that counts knows what the score is mate, and you certainly did do yourself proud.

We should have a Superlap on Sat and a 1/4 mile shoot out on Sunday.

It should stop some of the :D on this board :)

Well done to all of those who competed. I am sure you all gained a lot of experience and had hell load of fun.

I wish I can be there for the next one.

1/4 mile racing proves nothing...its only corner racing that gains respect. Unfortunately most of the exposure is given to drag racing GTR's which i think p1sses a few people off.

Absolutely stinging to get some more track time with the car...ill be walking past a few pits with my hand cupped behind my ear at the next event. Or maybe with my index finger pressed against my lips. Maybe that might be being a little too cheeky, but it has certainly got my determination active and my goals focused.

Hi Richard Darren is my name I am actually a mate of Mark and Russ's was over in japan at tsukuba in december as well and may have seen you at the track but was not aware who you were. Will be good to catch up and meet you in person some day as both mark and russ speak very highly of you. Matty is a good mate of mine and I actaully built the car for him (he makes a good parts washer) although he helped alot the majority of the work was performed by myself in my shed. Thanks for the comments as i am sure all that actaully know what is going on would give credit were credit is due. Just is a bit much when people without any knowlage make negitve comments although that is to be expected on a forum i guess. I would always welcome constructive critisism but for all those that have nothing positive to add and no personel experiance in building or prepping a track car themselves dont do themselves any favours by posting negitive comments.

All in all it was a great event and cant wait for the next round will be hopeing to have my R33GTR track car ready and hopefully a bit more track time to come to grips with the driving side of things as i personaly had a shocker behind the wheel and will be looking to improve on the last dismal performance dramaticly.

Paul i think if you guys can get on top of your oil controll issues your car has a lot of potential as a 1.18 something lap is nothing to sneeze at especially considering it is the first time you guys have found some corners so would be a little out of your element. The best way to overcome any negitive comment or sentiment is to get the car performing well and let the lap times do the talking wich i am sure you will be committed to doing by the way you are speaking and you obviously have the commitment to achive results as being an official RH9 memeber is no mean feat in itself. Best of luck with the car and come and say Hi at the next event.

You cant half tell that Adz was trying:)

Not sure if harder springs in the front would have helped :D RB20 gives you wings and all that :)

haha good committment there, you were about 5klm/h from putting it on it's roof. turn 1 is a good place to make up time, and a good place to roll a car. Turn 6 is also surprisingly easy as one of the commodores showed at our last race too.

lots of talk and bullshit in this thread (which some people take way too seriously). The bottom line like Ben said is the results tell the story. And the 1, 3 and 5th race regularly and the development shows, and lets face it 2nd has had heaps of development over years. And no offence to the competitors giving it a go for the first time but my production car with standard boost (12psi) and average tyres would have come home 15th. Every second under about say 1.16 will take a huge amount of time and money to make up.

All the best to everyone for the next one, hopefully our nugget will be out - it is fun to build a car to no rules after so long of having to run standard everything. I know the BSM boys will share that feeling.

SuperLap did stop the BS, it showed which cars are 'sorted' and which need more work and it did this all from the laptimes.

Drivers, Owners, Workshops, etc can say whatever they like, at the end of the day the laptimes are there to show the cars that were setup right for the day.

I will have more respect for a car that can go fast both around corners and in the straight without mucking around with too many settings. Surely the car is not "sorted" if it can only go fast around corners :D

Fact is the cars at the tops of the time sheets could all run 10s, or very low 11s. Giant could perhaps give a 9 a scare. So qtr mile runs wont prove anything other then the fact that to do the times the top guys are doing, you need good power and power down. But we already know that

 sorry mate, I got your user names mixed up. Yeah, we did not get formally introduced, I did see you a little at the track, and I was at the pub on saturday night, but we never got to really have a chat. Matts car is a credit to you mate, it's bullshit fast and I couldn't personally fault it in any way. :) It is one of my favourites for sure, no nonsense and the fact that it can reliably punch out the times it does is very impressive. You're right, it can be hard to take people with no clue trying to get in a few cheapies. Sadly it happens a bit too often.

We'll have to get together soon either back down here in sydney town, or I may be up in brissie soon. ;)

make sure ya bring ya tools beer baron

i think we are gonna try and push a 9 on wednesday night at willowbank in the r32 , if its got it in it!

also going to take the r35 out to see how low we can go, went saturday night but only got 1 run ( over 250 cars to a test n tune) ran 11.3 but seemed to cut power as the tyre pressure low air light & some japanese chick saying something to me ? came on as i launched!! to many electronics , i need to get rid of some soon

hehe... i need more power to overcome the weight disadvantage i add ;)

nah just give me the Japanese chick and you will be right

If you are all set, I will try to come out and run a 9 as well...since I don't have any Jap chick excuse :)

A Saturday is better for me but if you are all going down there on Wed, I will try my best to get out there and share the fun as well

Let me know if you have any change of plan Russ.

Remember the 140MPH rule or do you guys have a chute mounted already?. You guys have 3 mph and 2 tenths to work with so it is possible in the car. Maybe hook up a 139mph speed limiter...lol. I just held ours in 3rd gear at 9100rpm, this hurt the ET but the car was still good enough to run 9's under 140.

Good luck with it guys...your video's are in the post today.

Hey Dazmo your car looked the goods and tough as beer baron was trying to say, and a mate of Russ and quick time. Not all backyard bobs toot their own horn, your car and track times speak loudly.

Also you were down for test day at Oran GP month or so back with Russ weren't you? All the way from qld and good effort.

you crazy kid. that's not the ECU, that's Yumiko. I left her in the boot for you. she was probably shouting "I need some food and water" not "low tyre pressure" as your launch burnout probably woke her up. get in there and give her a feed mate, she had a big barrel of rice snacks and green tea for the trip over but they are surely all gone by now. and she'll be busting for a pee. I thought I told you all 35s I sell come with a free japanese girl? here's the pic I took before we tucked her away in the boot. hopefully she is still in tip top shape when you get her out.

that was matt. you're doing the same thing I did. :D matt owns the car, and drove it to 8th at superlap, and he came down with mark and russ for the test day. Darren built the car, and also drove it at superlap, but wasn't here for that test day.
