Um.......

All Clubsprint Series vehicles must retain their originally designated engine. For example, a Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T came from the factory with an RB25DET, and therefore must have an RB25DET, otherwise it will be designated into the Superlap Open Class.

........this raises one obvious question:

Is this to eliminate people with 180sx's who have put rb26's in there (and alike, 20B's in RX7's etc), or all hybrids (for example, an rb25 head, rb30 bottom end, in an r33 gtst). If the later, why?

Also whats the entry fee?

Im keen as mustard for this one, but not if i dont qualify for street class

Steve....like any racing they need to decide on some rules....and with any rules some cars are advantaged and some are disadvantaged.

Engine swaps are still OK overall, you just change the class you are competing in.

fark the super class has some big names!!

this is going to be awesome!

Im just going for the fun of it! And as long as I beat Steveo lol

Russ, let me know when you guys are going to go for a few practice days, would be good to see the cars in action and finaly meet you!

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Guys,

For starters thanks for your EOI form Chris I did recieve it and have now added you to the entry list for Clubsprint Class.

N1GTR - I called a meeting to dicuss your issue this morning and thought about changing it but after even more discussion we have decided to keep the original rule.

As for entry fees:

Open Class - $450 includes Timing Device and a Garage

Clubsprint Class - $250 includes Timing Device - Depending on how many Open Class entries we get Clubsprint Class entrants may be offered a garage at an extra cost if we have some left over.

NYTSKY - No you will not be able to enter Clubsprint Class with a screamer pipe. This clashes with the Street Legal side of the Class. There are some limits on this Class which is what seperates it from the Open Class. The cars in Clubsprint Class have to have a working Cat Converter and if you have a screamer pipe then there is not much point to having a cat.

Cheers

I'm in one way or another!

Would a GTR with all it's front drive line components removed be eligible to run in the RWD clubsprint class?

That is fine.

Cheers for the update Nathan!

Let me know when I need to pay :)

No worries Chris, Will do.

cool guys the more the better!

dunc get those bloody restrictors out.

just to make it clear, i have nothing to do with the running of the event , just helped them with some ideas and things!

i am there to race!! and drink !!!

there are two r35 gtr's already entered in street car class!!! one which i will be driving ! :)

yeah chris bring ya car over!!

apparently they will have displays and girls and some corporate stuff!!

I see the word girls, I'll be there in some form or another

I'm curious as to why the open class cost a lot more than clubsprint class?

Might have to sacrifice a few track day later in the year for this.

There are a few reasons. For starters the garage is an extra $60 per vehicle, but the big difference is the prize money.

Open Class Outright Winner - $1000

Open Class Outright 2nd Place - $700

Open Class Outright 3rd Place - $450

Clubsprint Class Outright Winner - $550

Clubsprint Class Outright 2nd Place - $350

Clubsprint Class Outright 3rd Place - $250

*These amounts are not finalised however this is the starting point that we are looking at*

Each of these will recieve a trophy. The winners of each category ( ie: fastest 4WD etc ) will also recieve a Trophy and possibly a prize pack of some sort. This is yet to be finalised.

Then also the Shootout at the end of the day the Open Class gets more prize money than Clubsprint Class but those amounts are not finalised.

Cheers

personally I reckon the old way was better. cars with engine conversion etc should be in open class.

apart from anything else watching someone with their supermega RB30 build pushing say 400rwkw doing laps on their nangkangs (as semi-slicks are not allowed) is going to be scary. I think the whole idea of the clubsprint class is for the less seriously modified cars. engine conversion throws that out the window.

doesn't worry me too much, but in most other types of racing engine conversion puts you into open. as it should be.

I agree Richard and after further discussion it will have to go back to the original. I have now changed it back to the original.

    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
    • To be fair - you see the same thing for every clutch. There's always someone making an installation error.
    • Just saw this, redacted names. It's on a R33 GTS-t Facebook group. Looks like still teething issues.
