Thanks guys

Somethings wrong up top, ill find out exactly what quite soon. There was an incident during the build and i have a feeling that thats the reason its failed - which is good as its not my fault. The motor had been blowing white smoke since i picked it up, but only after a decent rev past 5000rpm, i thought it was the tune (or lack of) but now its pretty clear i was wrong, there was something wrong in there from when i got it

Dry sump fittings are on the engine but its still running a JUN pump (sump setup will be a scavenger setup to a tank in the boot that feeds back to the pickup, so it still uses the JUN pump but flow to the pump wont be an issue, so its slightly different to a normal dry sump  )

Dam those Lotuses are quick. I think on the day giant will be in the running with both on R compound tyres, and giants supper soft ones. Can't see how new slicks are similar to R compound though?

I went to Wakey on Sat for SAU track day, freezing day about 9c and windy and could not get there until after 2pm due to tow car Commy doing an alternator that morning and long story. Bit of mud on the tack and not good for grip as so cold tracktemps and rain that night and old tyres, bla bla bla managed a 1 min 5.49 a PB, and I was impressed until I put it in perspective with this pesky Lotus, and giant would do this with one flat tyre. Still doing more weight reduction and more power prior to the BIG day but budget does not allow for dog box yet, so will be running the stock gear box still. At least we will look good coming 3rd or 4th or 5th or..................

Dirtgarge thieving p...icks, I hate thieves and unfortunately trailers are hot property. Got a pic of what it looked like, never know small world and if unique it might show up one day at a track or on the road going somewhere.

I cannot believe im reading this....

Send it up if you want it done right Steveo....ill give you a student concession on fixing the build. I know of another smoky GTR engine build that had a little something go wrong in the top end too. Got two monster builds on at the moment that will take my time up but ring me if you need any assistance.

Hi Mr Mackie

Don't try and tell us the Lotus is a cheap build :)

Super cool cars which I just love driving.

I heard a rumuor today that Peter Lucas is worried that he may not be fast enough ( only 11's on slicks on the weekend) and is thinking of getting Bargs or Luffy to drive the car at superlap :)

The GT3 Lotus did a 1.09 with Luffy at the wheel, and he thinks it may do a 1.08 (on slicks). That car would never be that fast on R compound :)

I think Peter should drive his car at superlap to give us a chance on the day.

Will be an awesome day. Looking forward to catching up :)

Hi John,

Well I'm sure our car was a lot cheaper than most of the car in superlap :)

I have no doubt that Peter and Tim would have got into the 1:09s if we put new slicks on. We were both running on well used tyres and new ones are worth 2 seconds easy. Which is why I am hoping that the new R tyres will see us on similar pace to last weekend. See you at Oran!

Our car was 30K...but then broke the world record for labour charges for a GTR street engine build (no, unfortunately we didn't build this one) So yes you car may be cheaper than ours...hehe

I wouldn't be relying on it, can't see how a used slick would have the same grip levels as a new R compound tyre.

Anyway, go-karts shouldn't be allowed at superlap, how are you supposed to compete against a 800kg car!!!! :D

It's amazing that a GT-R is exactly double that weight.

Anyhow, Teh GT-R can neva lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    • Should be fine, if you have it sitting too far in, you end up just spraying the walls and have shit idle. You "can" run them like that, however I don't think it's a great idea (also depends on your plenum, might be good to just get the injector bosses first, mock it up and see if you need to get the bottom extension) Ideally your injectors, with the extension should look like this  (Not my photos, just Google)
    • Thanks for the replies guys, it's really appreciated.  It seems the kit was supposed to come with those injector bosses but hasn't. Unsure if they'll help as even with the adaptors to make them a 3/4 height injector they still sit too far out so mount the fuel rail?
    • Hello, I am looking to replace my two rear drive shafts in my R34 N/A Skyline but I'm finding conflicting information. Do S13/S14/S15 or R32 NA/ R33 NA fit? https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-rear-drive-shaft-l-h-nissan-silvia-s13-s14-s15-3x2-type?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqY7EwDaYCUoUU3mxxZ_qrUXkVVHiV4MIN7ozoar6scjnEiekv- would this fit?
    • Hoping they release an R34 getrag pull type.
    • You need the bottom spacers, to make it a 3/4 height injector. https://www.efihardware.com/products/3040/injector-adapter-lower-for-extended-nose-injectors   And you'll need to buy the right injector bosses, these "might" fit. You'll need to measure it up. https://www.nzefi.com/product/raceworks-lower-injector-mounting-boss-kit-for-r33-rb25det-s14-s15-sr20det/
