yeah I want it bad. so does troy. i've been trying to get the owner to sell it to me for a little while now. it's hardly used any more. spends most of it's time warming the parking lot. I guess that's how it happens, you build a car, and while developing it and fine tuning you drive it heaps. once you think it's finished you lose a bit of motovation to get out there in it. so hopefully it will be oz bound sooner or later. it would be pretty fun to drive I reckon.

You need to understand that i have just finished building a bitumen facility. So that means i have MEANS. Talk like that gives me MOTIVE for a good tar and feathering! :D

LOL, sadly i think the same thing very often, in fact recently asked a friend to follow up with some enquiries concerning such an animal :)

Good to see you are back Bozzo and thought you might have been blown out. Let’s keep this thread going until 100 at least and surely be the biggest thread of all time.

GTR Jason Bozzo only fights my track times battles, lol, although it is not the size of the dog in the fight you know. Let's not go there thow Roy and GTR Jason, all good and back onto Superlap.

He Bozzo these GTR's had better watch their backs as we are coming. Actually if you could only get them to stand still though as I know BSM are up to things too, Russ and Marks R34 will be King next year though it seems.

Re the Slot Car I currently have the engine cross member out, and spent a few hours linishing off the excess metal, and welding in a few spots to strengthen. Also welded some Chrome Molly plate to reinforce where I just redrilled the bolt holes higher to raise the front roll centre. Carbon targa roofs nearly done then attacking passenger door next, as this is all stock with electric windows and all still, then tail carbon tailgate and perspex window.

Beer Baz, I rate it. I only wish the rules I run to allowed such a "weapon". Like we were discussing elsewhere, sounds like the owner's finding it hard to let go something he built himself.

Hey yes Wolverine these VG30 nuggets make great moorings if you take the pistons out so the mud settles in well.

holy spinning vortex generator.....

....out of the Batmobile and into the Batboat.

the diversity of cars at Superlap made it a great day for me, from the slot car, the lotuses, the landcruiser, the RB20 screaming its...err bosoms off etc.

hopefully some softer rear springs on the batmobile will work better (in combo with the new swaybars) and you can get at least 350 of the 456kw down next time.

Hi All,

Sorry It has taken me so long to reply trying to catch up on sleep haha and also on months lost work at my day job. So lets start with the press release yes?

The picturesque Oran Park Raceway played the host to the inaugural round of the SuperLap Australia on Saturday.

A perfect winter day welcomed over two thousand spectators and a massive field of sixty five Australia's fastest import track cars.

Fierce competition in both Clubsprint and Open classes provided plenty of non-stop action making the SuperLap a perfect spectators' event.

John Boston in a turbo-charged Honda S2000 dominated the Clubsprint Class, with Brett Middleton and Gerard Manion both in Mitsubishi EVO 9s, in 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Boston also won out the hotly contested Clubsprint Best of the Best Shootout.

In the open class, Peter Lucas in a Lotus Elise and Mark Berry in the Hi-Octane Racing R32 GTR battled it out for the SuperLap supremacy, with Peter Lucas the eventual winner. The BEL Garage/Tilton Interiors Lancer Evo 9 Driven by Garth Walden went on to win the Open Class Best of the Best shootout.

With a great turnout and close racing, the inaugural SuperLap has set a new standard for Australian time-attack events. "It's only going to get bigger and better," said Ian Baker, "the timing could not have been better – Australia has been waiting for this type of event for a long time!"

SuperLap Australia would like to thank all the sponsors and supported without whose help putting on this event would not be possible:

Yokohama, Fast Fours Magazine, Turbosmart, Haltech, Greddy, GCG, Xtreme, ACL, PPG, Whiteline, Turtle Wax, Splitfire, Dyno Dynamics, Nismo, Sparco, V-Sport, Royal Purple, CP Pistons, Gates, Ross, VA Duselis.

Now my thoughts!

Ian and myself had a great day and overall were pleased with how it all came together. We had a number of issues throughout the day which we have taken note of that have to be fixed before our next event to make it great for everyone. We have recieved feedback from most entrants and alot of spectators aswell and we are greatful for that as this gives us ideas to work with. As we stated on the day we are building this event for you guys so all the suggestions you have put forward will be considered very carefully. A big thing is that all of our sponsors are extremely happy and I can not thank them enough for believing in us as I am sure people have approched them before with similar ideas but they chose to stick with us. Next year we hope to run a minimum of 3 events however we would like to do more than that if possible and these will include NSW,QLD & VIC at this stage. We hope to see you all at the coming events. If anyone would like to be added to our mailing list to be kept up to date shoot me and email with "mailing list" as the subject.

Congratulations and well done to all entrants for being a part of the inaugural Superlap and putting on a great show for all of our spectators, and congratulations to everyone who took home a trophy. We look forward to seeing you in the future.

One last thing. We have a number of T-shirts left if anyone would like to purchase one to have as some form of a momento of sorts.

Have just spent the last few days at Lakeside raceway........I thought they were going to spend money on the track :)

its supposed to be closing in October for the resurfacing. At the last Sprint there Tetly mentioned they want to "change the cambers" in the corners too. He didn't get any more specific than that but  if they change the exit of caruosell and hungry. the other issue is they're widening the track too, which will also totally change its character...

Good to see you are back Bozzo and thought you might have been blown out. Let’s keep this thread going until 100 at least

maybe we can 'clock it'?

RB26 not much lighter you will find if any?

Nissan smartened up and did this and put an alloy V6 in the new R35 GTR.

People often ask why I don't race a GTR. RB26 fans don't read this below.................................

Just to compare the VG30DETT which has not come out of the car for three years, has done zillion track days and this one makes up to 438rwkw has stock, block and crank, water pump, oil pump, sump other than little plate we Tig weld in to stop oil flying out of the well, stock manifolds, throttle bodies and plenum. Much more reliable and cheaper than RB26 with similar power for track use.

You know you won't usually get away with comments like that on here but this is a superlap thread so I will let you go....lightly :)

438rwkw with a 3L capacity is nothing I tracked a stock RB with 400+rwkw for sometimes too before I upgraded to a better RB :D

Don't be weak

:)

Well no because don't hey normally make it so that JDM cars are only eligable? I'd personally hate that to become the case here and I'd like to see someone enter next time in some Aussie muscle or something but really the rules have already banned Porsches - but what is to stop say someone turning up in a Radical SR3?

Or as another interesting one - what about if Darran Hossack rocked on up in this? It holds the OUTRIGHT lap record at Sandown....

Audi4.jpg

btw I know its from pages ago, but as far as I can see this car would be perfectly legal. Just a sports sedan like at least 2 of the other cars on the day.

As I said earlier its good to see real race cars mixing it up with the workshop cars. And their level of refinement and development really shows in their lap times. The winning car would have been in the bottom 50% for power.

From what I hear Harry, Lakesides future does not look good after speaking to the boys up in Qld.

Totally agree Duncan about development and reminement. I would love the S2000 or the Zed to be 700kg just like those under powered winning cars :)

Speaking of those 700kg cars, congrats to Peter Lucas on his awesome display at Eastern Creek last weekend in the little Buzzbox :D

;)

I'd own a 300z if i have my own hoist or even better a workshop :) ! Firstly they are over-heat KING, secondly just to get to the bottom radiator hose you'd need to lift the engine up a bit.

Awesome to hear that there will be another superlap Nathan and your taking it interstate as well!! :/

West yes most zeds have done way more k's than they show and have been neglected and trouble and most are worn out shit boxes. They do have tight engine bay and can run hot, bottom radiator hose is not hard to get to, and no need to touch the motor. Once sorted they are much more reliable with far less money needed to spend than an RB at the track. They NEVER spin bearings or get oil starvation or oil surge problems, NEVER crack blocks, NEVER have crank or crank balancer problems. No need for snazzy expensive oil pumps, water pumps, baffles, restrictors ect.

Hey GTR Jason how good are they??????

With all the bitching in this thread, I would almost think that this thread needs to be moved to the drag section.

Cliff notes:

Zed's are boats

Teh GTR lost

Lotus/Honda resentment abounds

A racetrack is no place for corners

I think that just about covers it.

Hey Adrian when are you coming to do corners, and how is your car?

EGO's, opinions, ideas, throw in some false statements. Sounds like a forum and why we need moderators, police, speed humps, regulations etc Adult humans can't be trusted to look after themselves it seems. I did not mention drag racers.

Corners confuse me and my car will fire this week.

Yep. We need babysitting.

I did not mention drag racers.

But you may as well have. Some junior dragster parents would put most circuit racing bitches to shame. It's like everyone is racing for sheep stations.
