my 32 is leaking power steering fluid at the rear of the car near the diff. i thought it was the diff leaking but turned out not being the diff. my mechanic says its to do with the 4ws as its shagged? he means the hicas right? now his not familiar with imports and only works on adm cars but his the only one i trust doign work on my car.

what has to be done to fix? been reading about a lock bar? and heard if hicas is taken out the hicas light stays on forever? is the hicas lock bar easy to put in? or is it good to overhaul the hicas system? i pretty much don't know whats happening to the car and why its leaking so need some help. thanks people

yeh mate the hicas light will stay on, but u can easily turn it off by taking out the globe, as for the hicas bar, as far as im aware, it makes it easier to turn corners LOL ....sideways, but not too sure if it will stop the leak, but yeh justmy two cents

Where is it leaking from? Do you have a 4WD car? (ie. the ATTESSA system).

There's a tutorial on how to install a HICAS lock bar by salad I think.

If it's leaking fluid, it's best to get it fixed up because eventually the rest of the power steering fluid will run dry.

nah just got a gtst so no atessa. how do you fix the leak? its leaking real slow as the fluid is still pretty much full. can some one advise on how to fix it? i couldn't see much but my mechanic said its coming from the top? sorry i have no idea lolz. thanks

could be acouple of places. The high presure lines to the hicas rack or out of the rack boots they would be the most comman areas. Fixing the leak may be as simple as tighting a hose or the rear rack could need a rebuild. I haven't had a close look at them but going off another steering rack they can't be that different lol

hmm i hope its a loose hose......like it only leaks when the cars moving around but when its just stationary in the driveway there are no leaks....just hioping its a hose as i cbf spending anymore money on fixing my car lolz...anyone suggest any workshops that know what they are looking at in melbourne...prefer western suburbs

Need pictures bud.

If it is PS fluid, it'd be clearly for the HICAS. As its all crazy 800psi stuff, it'd be all double flared like your brake lines; not too easy to leak.

You could have had a gutter or something scrape and rupture the line, which is a real shame as Nissan charge a LOT for those lines.

Your in luck friend! By simply clicking on the link in my signature you check the thread to my HICAS gear

Shameless i know, but a brutha has to survive LoL :D

EDIT: Degrease all the gear back there, and stick some butchers paper under it, so you can see the drops.

If its the rack leaking, they have an internal seal at either end of the shaft which prevents oil from escaping the rack itself. They will most likely be hard and leaking. The boots are just dust covers to stop anything from going into the internals of the rack. Once again thats if its the rack thats actually leaking. At a guess id say that would be it :teehee:

Pics to confirm.

    • See my post here If you put the Haltech in, you won't have to worry about any of that. And, in case you're worrying about my lack of credentials in doing your exact swap, I put a Neo in an R32. There has never been a stock boost solenoid near my car and the Neo's ECU has never cared. Nor should it, because it is electronically impossible for it to care.
    • That's 100% wrong. Did you wire in the boost sensor? If you did not, then that is 101% your answer. Neo ECUs do suck a bit.
    • Hello, I'm trying to make this thread basically the thread with all the answers to common questions regarding specifically the RB20 DE NEO + T engine, that comes in the R34. Answers will and only should be provided by those who have done this conversion or actually have some relevant real life experience please. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments if you have any so other members can answer. I feel like this thread is really needed, especially with more Americans buying (unknowingly going to regret it too) rb20 neo r34s. My first question being - What do you guys use for tuning? I have purchased a haltech elite 2500 Plug and play kit for the rb25det NEO because the ecu plug is the same, but I am unsure if any of the pins would need to be repined to match. Second question that I see asked very often - After this conversion, did you install the boost solenoid/ actuator? I see many people doing a + T setup on their rb20 NEOs while running stock RB25DET NEO ECUs with no tune. I am wondering how they are going about doing that and consistently abusing the car because many of these people have had these untuned setups running for a very long time. That was my original plan, but my engine cuts out at 5 psi of boost using the stock ecu with no tune and no boost solenoid/actuator.
    • interesting. ive read and heard otherwise over the past year. ive been doing this +t conversion on a rb20 neo using all oem rb25det neo parts including the ECU, and im having engine cut out issues when I hit around 5 psi of boost. Everywhere/everyone ive asked has told me its because I never wired in a boost solenoid/actuator to the ecu, so the ecu isn't getting the right signal once it hits 5 psi of boost, causing the engine to get shut off.
