Buying Skyline

Hi all im looking to buy a 1989 skyline gtst , im just wondering is it a right option to buy an 18 yr old turbo car , im a bit skeptical on buying such an old car and having problems with the engine and turbo and so forth , any help would be appreciated cheers!

No, you shouldn't buy one, they're much too old.

If your asking the question, then your prolly not keen on maintaining a 18yo Jap import. Get a second hand WRX

as said above.. your hearts gotta be in it.. if your just buyin one cos they are pretty cheap and just want the power then dont get one... but if you love the 32's then its an awesome car.. but need to spend the money on it..

but you do need to shop around...

otherwise like GeeTR said buy a 2nd hand WRX..

oh ok fair enuff , im pretty keen on buying a 32 but yer dont really have the money to spend on fixing it , how about a newr 32 , same deal or what?

Most 32's will be in the same stage. Things are starting to fall apart and leaking, but then again, I don't see what turbo car you could get for $10k that won't be.

Check out a few 32's for sale if you really want one. Just do a few tests on them to see if you'll have to spend heaps of money.

I wouldnt get a wrx, they might be more reliable but their parts are heaps expensive. Imo if you look after an r32 you shouldn't have to much trouble with it.

No, I am not biased, although the power, or lack of, will bug you for a long time. I have had my car for 5 months and I'm already saving for a turbo one!! Although they are good cars, and I've never had a problem with it.
