Hi everyone I just thought I'd let you know that I made the trip down to Gladstone for the Motokhana but unfortunately it had been cancelled.:) Bugger, but anyway I thought I'd just tell you about an interesting thing I saw. On the way down we went past a group of imports that looked like they were on their way up to Rocky, maybe for the cruise or something else, this was about 12.30. Anyway the group consisted of a few 300's a S13, a few R32 and a few R33. So I was shocked when I was on my way back again at about 2.00 when we past the red 300 with a bick wing heading back again I was like What? Then we cam accross all of the cars pulled over and talking. It looked like they had been pulled over by a cop .:P

So I gotta wonder what they did to still be sitting there over an hour later. I don't know exactly what was happening, but I reckon it would be interesting to find out from anyone who knows.

Yeah the cruise was Awsome... I had a blast and I stuck to the speed limit... most of the time...

There was 3 Gtr's, 2 silvias, 1 33gts-t, 1 32 Gts-t, 1 MX-6, 1 Cordia and a Clubsport... 10 Cars... and it was a blast... there are heaps of photo's getting around and generally we just chatted and had fun... JR you could have added to our crew but I understand that SBS is good watching... speedweek is a top show for a bit of lower budget racing stuff...

And Garth that is too bad about the Motokhana being cancelled... oh well they will just have to have one up here... I am sure all the local imports will be there to have some legal fun... can we drift? or is there a few rules for safetys sake... just it would be awsome to have a few GTR's there, some sideways S13 action... maybe even jay could punt around in the fastest taxi in rocky...

tell us when it is going to be next in rocky and we will put it in the Garage Spank calander... it's definatly on my to do list...

There hasn't been to much tech conversations on here lately so...

This is a discussion and it is open to all with an opinion... state it openly and wisely... don't just say it is... give reasons...

What is better

a three inch Stainless exhaust or a 3 inch mild steel... just I am thinking of upgrading my exhaust and I am wondering about the advantages... it's just with mild steel I could replace my exhaust 3 times for the price of one stainless system... and what if I rip it off or something... maybe the mild steel is the go... can anyone think of any good reasons why flow would be better or is it just wank factor??

Yeah but the problem with that car is that he has bad blowby and the dipstick has to be held in with a piece of tape. POS!:upurs: [/b]

Yeah valid point,

But that POS as you call it also ran 170rwhp on a pretty hot day.

So what does you 323 run at the wheels. POS.

Man that is a small skyline in your picture dev. That s13 beside it looks pretty small too............. Dan dunno is marge would fit in on the cruises to the beach, would have loved to come down but. Might just have to get even bigger spotties on the front for the roos on the way home. I will have to get mark to hook me up with a pair, like the ones he will get on his ute.

    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
    • Dort sounds above 3k rpm are dorty 🤣 I might krinkle black the alloy 🤔
    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
    • Connect all the plumbing up properly. The actual worst part about having the turbo unable to actually build boost, is you can and likely would over soon the turbo if you drove the car (free rev while stationary isnt likely to manage it).   If you do have an air leak as Duncan suggested, you'll have a bad time as the AFM will be saying different to reality.   As you have had the engine out, I'd go over all electrical connections again. If you have a consult cable, plug it in, and see what the ECU thinks is going on. Did you touch the timing belt? If so, double check your timing on the gears is correct AND put a timing light on it while it's idling and see what ignition setting you have. Is the AFM you've installed the one that was in the car previously? You said you replaced seals, what seals exactly? What have you had apart?   From memory when I had my RB25DET with factory throttle, there was two plugs the TPS plug on the loom could go to. One would leave the car running like shit, the other made it work, I think one plug on the TPS area was for something else (an option). It's too many years since I saw that part of the loom to remember properly though.   Is the car idling smooth (as smooth as an RB can)? Does it smell fuelled up?   I have a feeling either timing in timing belt is off, or a sensor isn't right.
    • Theres still skid pan and motokhana days up in QLD at least that are $100 or less. The ones that are ran as "driver training" less so, they're expensive, but just normal skid pan days like SAU ran are still low cost. And thats one of the places I learned to be a lariken, purely by asking for passenger rides, and how people were doing crazy things. Reese gave me plenty of pointers back in the day for skid pan! And yes Duncan, I will never forget your pointers for track work. Especially after Neil got out saying "I am NEVER getting in the car with him again!" 😛
